I guess that no one knows, Be the first!

Draw a vector line 10 inches long, set the power to very low and the speed to 10%. Time it, and calculate it. (Seconds / 100 will give you the seconds per inch at max speed. Then 1/seconds per inch will give you inches per second for max speed.)

Then for gosh darned sure, post it.

I think I read somewhere that the speed and power settings in the Epilogs are not linear. So 10% setting for speed is not actually 10 times slower than 100% speed. They do that so that the 100 settings you can use from 1 and 100 give you more than 100:1 range in speeds. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere in the Epilog manual.

James,

The Legend 32 has a max speed of 100 inches/second. I could never tell how PhotoGraV uses the max speed parameter; I could never tell the difference between setting the max speed to 100 or leave it at the default 33.

That would be unique and beneficial. New Hermes got around the problem of not being able to slow down the machine with a one byte number by making vector 1/10 the bitmap speed.

Everyone has their own method of getting around issues, but it gets confusing. (Why not just send out two bytes?) Even if it is an 8 bit processor it can be done.

According to the specs provided to Engravers Journal in a laser system comparison buyers guide. the Legend 24 EX and 32 EX have a max carriage speed of 120 ips. The 24TT is rated at 80 ips. May 2004 issue

Mark,

Although he hasn't fille out his profile yet, I'm almost sure that James has a Legend 32 which is slightly slower than the Legen32 EX.
