Hello all

I am required to custom design six (6) commemorative decorative pieces as awards for a culinary team who recently won a competition.
They have suggested plaques, plates or pins. They are also open to other suggestions. They would like to incorporate a culinary signature emblem in the piece.

I really would appreciate some ideas from you guys on this one. My only equipment is my laser.

Thanks
Alex

Alex,

If all you have is a laser, you may want to consider outsourcing the awards.

Depending on their budget, (diamond-drag) engraved Sterling Silver platters or serving trays would be an appropriate item.

A high quality lapel pin would also be nice.

I don't know what an appropriate, descriptive image might be, other than a Chef's hat. :S

If the group has a logo, that would be the likely choice.

Consider what you might be able to do with a solid wood cutting board and a chefs knife. One idea might be the sword in the stone type award. Both the knife and the wood cutting board have endless potential for laser engraving. Custom awards can be the fun ones. Be sure an charge what you should for a Custom Design item.
Good luck.

I am not suggesting this is appropriate for this kind of award but we do a lot of wood handle BBQ tools for different awards. Just a thought to help get you going.

Sometimes a trip to the restaurant supply house might pay dividends.

Besides making a new contact they have all manner of things chefs love to have. Chef's are just like engravers and woodworkers--they collect tools of their trade.

Try an egg beater (whipper) mounted on a cutting board with a plate for the message. The egg beater is a tool used by all good chefs and only a few normal people. (I said a few, so no flack please.)

Are you referring to the "crank" type or a whisk?

Whisk is the one that I was thinking of. Very distinctive in appearance.

You might use it to whip up a batch of awards.
