Full Version: engravelab help... please

I am getting so frustrated with this software... it seems to morph on its own and do wierd things.

1st - I have a master set up with a template of items I engrave. Part of this master I have guidelines that are spaced for centering, and they're "locked". I can't move the guides accidentally.

However, when I first open the master .cdl file, the guidelines aren't locked at all.. I can move them. I click to see if the guides setup has them locked, and yup, they're locked. I exit the guide setup menu, and voila, they're locked again! >.<

2nd:

When I click on the "engrave" button, I get a preview screen that USED to have a top menu that let me cancel and do other things....it's gone and I can't get it back! :S

3rd:

The "smart bar" at the top never appears anymore when I select any of the tool functions...

AIIIIEEEEEAAARRGGGGHHHHH.

No experience with Engravelab, but I've seen similar "weirdness" with Adobe Illustrator, when my computer's hard drive was nearly maxed out and I wasn't running enough RAM.

May not be an Engravelab problem.

#1 sounds like a programming bug, incomplete initialization. The fact that you open the menu and then shut it and it suddenly is right says the lock was not initialized and is set when you close the menu.

The others I have no clue about, I do not have the program.

See if the company has any patches for the program, try their website and then their service number. Sorry I could not be of more help.

I have about a gazillionn MB of free space on my HD and 1 GB of Ram.

I did a google search and found out about a "feature" that Engravelab has, which is if you undock the smart bar, and make it a floating smart bar, it gives you a button that lets you close out the smart bar.

Unfortunately, once you close out the floating smart bar, there is no button or menu item to re-enable the smart bar. DOH!

Support provided a solution that I have to go into the registry, delete the toolbars folder in Cadlink, and when Engravelab is started again, it'll rebuild the toolbars folder in the registry and re-enable the smart bar.

In regards to the guide lines not staying locked, my guess is that is another "feature"... but I haven't heard back on that one from support yet.
