Yes, in the Corel properties, I have the backup set off.

I have never found a need for it except for disk clutter. I save often so I do not need the auto-backup at all. I do not like the auto feature. If I am trying to do something that is not working, I can go back to the original, with auto-backup it might have saved over the file already.

Good point. I must have mine to auto backup every so often too. Since I see it what looks like it is saving the file. (Little blue save line working when I have not asked it too do so lol.)
Anyway thanks for clarifying, I appreciate it :-)

If you ever have worked on a large file for hours and then accidently shut down corel or had a power outage before you saved the files you would know how valuable those files are. It is really easy to do. Start surfing for some info and instead of minimizing the corel screen accidently hit the X.

I just bought a 300GB hard drive for things like those backup files. I paid $89 for it, best $89 spent in a long time.

I set my auto backups for the large hard drive and really don't worry about space right now. I delete everything in the auto backup folder about every 6 months. I backup the main files every week or 2.

I also burn my main files, meaning the data files only, to dvd about every 3 months.

File maintenance ends up being a big deal here. When to delete, or do you ever delete a file completely etc. We usually move files over a year old to dvd. Or if the file is really large I will move it to dvd.

You may not need auto backup if you are not working on hard to re make files but if you work on large files I recommend it. And a large inexpensive hard drive allows you to store those files conviently.
