Full Version: Add Bounding Box

All;

A personal request was made for a macro to create a bounding box/rectangle +1" around a selection set and add the new box/rectangle to the selection set.

Here is a macro to accomplish that:

The macro has not been fully tested nor debugged. Use at your own risk.

Carl,

Works fine, but we can't tell how many times it has been downloaded (therefore how much interest).

Thanks for sharing!

Roy,

I thought I'd save some disk space which is why I did it the way I did. I tried to change the message and add it as an attachment but, for some reason, the attachment doesn't show up. I'll add it to this one. If one of the moderators could fix my original message, I'd certainly appreciate it.

I really didn't think there'd be much interest in that particular macro. I suppose it shouldn't be me to determine potential interest. And, you are right, it would be very beneficial to see what macros people use and are interested in. Feedback, even if it is negative, is the best indicator. Even if people don't eventually use the macro, the number of downloads would definitely indicate overall interest in macros.

Thanks!

Carl,

I added a link, in your original post, to your downloadable post.

The nature of forums, for the most part, is that people read messages, without saying much, if anything.

I think it's wonderful that people like you and Shaddy are so generously providing the macros.

A thank you, to both of you, directly from me and on behalf of the silent majority. :-)

David;

You messed it all up again!! ;^)

Roy requested that the macro be listed as an attachment so that we can track how many times it has been downloaded. When you have it as a link, rather than a attachment, we can't see the number of downloads.

Care to try again?

Carl,

Your post that I linked to is showing the number of downloads.

Isn't that as good as?

Oh, excuse me. I didn't read the link. So sorry.

I had it in my mind that you would add the attachment to the first message so people would have a direct link to it.

Carl,

I tried to add the attachment to your post, but it didn't take.

Seems as though, even though the attachment option is part of the edit field, only the initial post can accept an attachment.

Can't go back and add one.

That's the same problem that I had. I thought that you might have better success with your advanced privileges. I guess your just like the rest of us.

You, the silent majority, and the noisy minority are welcome.

And thank you (and the other moderators) for providing a medium for us to share.

Carl,

I've lost track of how many MVPs we've had over the years, but you're one of them.

I'd list them all, but that's a bit dangerous, because I'm likely to leave someone out. :-)

All, very welcome additions to the forum and part of the fuel that propels EE.

Hardly, but thanks. As I mentioned to you before, my contribution with CorelDraw macros was strictly self-serving. I was hoping someone had already done a lot of work in this area so I wouldn't have to. Granted, macro programming is a specialized talent, but there are for more involved specialized talents that are freely and generously contributed by many members of this forum.
