Hi Brian,
It would be hard to get the outer ring from our rope design to do what you want, because it was hand drawn. (uneven)
So I quickly made up what you wanted, see if this will work for you.

Could you explain to me how easy it probably was to do?

You would think I was from Missouri.......even some Michiganders have to be shown :S

Make your oval using the circle tool, then text to line using an "O" or zero, kern the "O"'s using your shape tool until they overlap and weld together. Keep just the outer section and delete the rest. That will give you what you see.
