Full Version: Trophy Bases

I have not bought many bases from JDS (one order only of black marble only). I have the great fortune of having warehouses for Wholesale Trophy (The Source), Continental Trophies and Discount Trophy (Marco) all within 20 miles of my shop so I buy locally and save shipping by picking it up.

I can say that I prefer real marble to plastic but customers seem to prefer the price of the plastic. Not that much of a difference but that the way it goes here. No preference to Italian or Asian.

Penman,

What size bases are you looking for?

I have 70 nice Marble bases that I will let go Cheap. I put a post into the buy and sell area a little while ago that has a picture of them.

Look for "anyone Interested in These"

Let me know if you are interested.

We have used PDU plastic plaster filled bases for a long time.
Plastic looks better and the angled front allows a 1" plate
instead of a 5/8. Available in white or black marble pattern or walnut grain.
The faux marble weighted ones are also great for upscale trophies.

Some people think they want a real natural product then complain about any inconsistent grain or pattern in the natural product.

Real marble requires a lot of precautions to avoid chipping and a lot come in defective or are damaged in shipping. Can't remember ever getting an unusable plastic one.

We're in our 4th year of retail and we have never built a trophy using a genuine marble base. I know some here will disagree but, to us and our clientele, the marble bases are old school and better left to our competition who prides himself on being the cheapest guy in town and is slowly going broke to prove it.

We use a combination of Marco and PDU bases, and sometimes others depending on the set-up. The more modern plastic bases look good and, as has been previously mentioned, have a taller area for engraving. With most of our bases, we laser three lines of text: Name (and jersey #), team name, and league description & year.
