Puck,

Did you create the logos yourself or did you have someone else do them?

If you are referring to the stock logos then you can not change them they were done by the factory and I doubt they would give you the original files.

If you created the files your self then you can take the original file before conversion into the lgo format and then export them as DXF or HPGL files. Then import them into corel and then export them into AI files.

If someone else did the logos you will have to contact them and see if you can get the originals. All of the LGO,LOG formats start out as design cad files.

There is one other possibility if you have or know someone who has the xenetech system or software. They could bring in the lgo and log formats and then you could save as an HPGL format and then bring it into Corel and export it out as AI

Carl,

When I bought this engraver (meistergram) years ago I bought a software that takes .plt files and converts them to .lgo (also .DC2, what ever they are) files. I never thought about checking to see if they have a software to do the opposite conversion so I'll check in to what I can find out.

Thanks,
Puck

Hi Laserman,

I figured you might know something on this.

I actually made the logos myself and used Xybercad software to put them into .lgo files. The problem is that when doing that it wipes the original file off the disk so you no longer have a file to work with just a blank disk.

I had all these on my hard drive (also a backup copy of the older ones on a floppy that no longer works) and when it went bad I lost all of them. I haven't been able to find a CD where I copied them to so I'm thinking I didn't do the CD backup of my logos except after I turned them into .lgo files. I know, dumb move.

Thats another thought you had with the software, might be able to find something that will import these so I can output them into something I can use.

Thanks,
Puck

The .lgo files were for the Meistergram. What other kinds of engravers are you using?

I have a GEM, the small portable engraver which I use at craft shows, fairs and swapmeets. I tried it but it doesn't except .lgo files but will a lot of others. I actually can use it to do hatching and to make logos for for my meistergram.

Thanks,
Puck

New Hermes Gravostyle 98 can accept .lgo files. The files can then be saved as .plt files. Contact New hermes. They should be able to give you a price on converting individual files.

The ability to open .lgo files is standard in their Gravostyle 5 software. It was not standard on their Gravostyle 98 software. However there was a free patch that one could install that would read .lgo files.

Meistergram .lgo files are totally different than New Hermes .lgo files.

Is the .lgo the old format or the new Meistergram format?

Hopefully I still have my LogoStar source code for the old Meistergram format. I believe that was upgraded to go back to .plt, but it has been so long that I do not remember. We sold very few for Meistergram, mainly for Dahlgren and Hew Hermes.

If it is the old format you use, (the one that does not encrypt it to your serial number), I might be able to help.

Puck,

You don't need the original files to go backward if you created the logos using xybercad

Open Xybercad
select 6
then select 3 (make DC2 file from logo)
enter the LGO filename and then convert it back into a DC2 file.

make sure that you configure the directories properly so it knows where to find the LGO files.

once you convert it back into a DC2 file you can then open it in Design Cad and convert it into DXF or HPGL either one can import into Corel and then export into the AI format.

Also the files that are turned into the LGO files are PLT files that are created from Design Cad once you Plot the file. They are deleted once the Xybercad does its conversion. The DC2 files are the originals and can be exported to use in other programs.

If you don't have access to the Design Cad I have a little program that will convert the DC2 files to DXF or HPGL. just let me know and I can send it to you.

Harvey,

Any LGO format has the serial number coded into it any LOG format can be used and made to use for several engravers. I believe that new hermes uses the LOG format.

LaserMan,

I have an engraving right now but as soon as it finishes I'll go in to Xybercad and see if I can do what you said. The only thing is that I do not remember there being any number 6 but could be wrong.

I did go in earlier today and save a .lgo logo in to a DC2 file but didn't have any program to open those files either. But sounds like I should also be looking for a sotware program that takes those too.

Thanks,
Puck

Harvey,

This software and engraver is at least 12 years old since I bought it in 1994 (or so the paperwork says). So I'm not sure which it would be, new or old version?

Thanks,
Puck

Just because the file extension is the same does not mean it is the same format. NH is proprietary to the New Hermes machines. The Meistergram is proprietary to the MS machines. They are very different.

Harvey,

Yes but H-Square built the systems for both Meistergram and New hermes at one time. And I believe that the LGO format came from that transition. I know for a fact that the original software for the H-Square, Meistergram, and the new Hermes 1219, 810, and a couple of other new hermes systems was written by the same guy.

New hermes could have changed this format slightly when they went to france to build there systems, but I can create an lgo file that will work on any of the above systems.

Puck,

You have to have the Xybercad Logo Tools if you have pro logo or just the xybercad this option is not available.

At any rate you should look for your DC2 files this is the file that is created using the Design Cad. With these files you can do what you are wanting to do.

The LGO files are only created to work within the engraving program.

Laserman,

Just got done looking and I only have 4 numbers so guess that way is a no go also.

Not sure where to find the DC2 files.

Thanks,
Puck

Puck,

What program are you using to create the logo?

Are you using a digitizer?

You have to have some program to create the file before you process it through Xybercad to create the LGO files usually it is Design Cad.

I finally found my source code. It was written in 1991 through 1995.

The old format was .LOG, the new format was .LGO. I could only do the conversions from/to .LOG. there was not enough call to decrypt the new format, sorry.

It could very well be that the people that I talked to either did not know or were propagating a cover story.

My software for the New Hermes can convert to DC2, not PLT. (Finally found that on a backup disk also.)

It was the Dahlgren version that could do everything.

In Gravostlye 98 you can bring in a logo from the LGO format and export it as a PLT.

I'll send you an email through the forum so you have an email address for me.

Send me a logo and I will see if I can convert it for you. If it works, I will be able to easily do a ton of them for you fairly simply.

I have casmate pro New Hermes vers which can import and export lgo, eps, plt, dxf, etc.

You can send a logo to me and I,ll see if it converts.

Send to my email under my profile, but add sales@ to it

Bruce

Puck,

If Bruce's Casmate software is not able to do the job for you, I have a copy XyberCad that will convert .lgo files to DesignCad .DC2 files. If you want to email a test file, I will see if I can convert your file to .DC2 and then I will resave that for you as a .ai file. I am not sure though if XyberCad will only convert the files coded for my machine back to DC2 or if I could also convert yours. How many do you have that need to be converted. I am not sure if my brain works well enough to remember how to write a DOS program that could automate the translation process for doing lots of files, but I can give it a shot.
