Full Version: Printer stops during printing a certain image

I just received a new small format dye sub printer (C88) and Artainium inks.
I posted in DSSI but haven't gotten an answer yet (if there even is one).
Customer sent a file she created in Corel 10 and emailed to me. I am trying to print in X3. Half of the image prints and then the printer stops in it's tracks. I have tried 4-5 times and it always does it. I printed a different file that I had on my computer and it printed ok.
I sent the same image to my laser printer and it printed ok there but not on my C88.
What am I missing here?

Sounds like a quirk in the artwork. I had the same thing happen, a while back, with customer supplied artwork.
Turned out to be a corrupt PDF file, that was part of the artwork.

But,
Why did it print on my laser printer and not the C88? What can the customer do to make the file a good one?

As crazy as this sounds, try it. Select all, cut and paste to a brand new page.
It has worked for me on a bunch of jobs. Seems like the page gets corrupted but the image is OK.

In my case, the image would print "hit and miss" on the same printer.
When the misses became more frequent than the hits, I delved further into the PDF (logo, used in the artwork) and found some extraneous (hidden) lines.
Removed the lines and I was back in business.

Another thought on your situation, is to shut down (and reboot) the printer and computer, in case some of the corrupt information is stored in either place.

File has been fixed and printed great after converting to a bitmap.

The other thing to watch out for is that part of the job may still be in the print spooler.
What I find works sometimes it to save the file in a different format, then import it to Corel again. Sometimes that cleans up whatever code glitch is there.
There was also a problem between the Epson C86(?) and the Windows spooler a while ago, it caused lockups after the job was printed and either the spooler had to be shut down and restarted or you had to reboot Windows after each printout. Downloading Epson's latest driver finally solved that one. Be sure if you download the new driver you first delete that printer from the system before installing the new one. (A re-boot in between is a safety that is sometimes needed with that particular problem.)
