Full Version: Beach Party Announcement

We can still call it the "Beach Party" but we'll need a new stretch of shoreline.

I just received notice from Barry (Beach Special Events) that The Beach will be closing its doors by mid-December.

Thankfully, we have plenty of time to decide upon another venue.

If any of our members, in the Vegas area, (or anywhere else) have a suggestion(s) for another locale, we'll all ears.

Darn, I became familiar with that place.

Why didn't he tell you that when you started choosing the menu? Grumble.

Oh, the joys of running a forum with extras.

Today is Dec 8th, they are closing by mid-December. Only a week from closing, not much notice. Bummer, Heavy Sigh
I don't know hardly anything about LV except

1. Food at the trade show, not cheap.
2. Seminars cold at the trade show.
3. Quark's at the Hilton is fun with your friends. But they aren't big enough for our group & payment is a hassle with groups there.

Toni,

I picture a banquet room at a restaurant, with room for about 100 people and a buffet.

More personal than one of the larger rooms at The Hilton and probably much less expensive.

Discouraging news, but not insurmountable. :-)

You could fly me to Vegas for a long weekend of window shopping for a new location for our Beach Party. For a few hundred and expenses I am sure to find something! B-)

Did they happen to mention if they were being bought out by another group? If that is happening they might be happy to have our business being a new startup operation.

I am like Harvey - I am sad to see our little home away from home leave :'D

David - I have no idea of the cost but year before last Xentech had a very nice get together with invited guests at the Hilton. Finger food was along the Mexican line but very good and the room might have been small for 100 but they have lots of different options on room sizes. It might be worth a look.

Joe,

I'll keep you in mind for a reconnaissance mission. :-)

We'll definitely check with the Hilton. It would be great, not to have to travel too far from the Convention Center.

David,
A friend of mine used to be the executive pastry chef at Spago at Ceasers. I will check with him.

Just checked with him. He is doing a stint at Spago on Maui during christmas and will ask around. He will also be contacting his friends in Vegas and will let me know on Monday if he finds anything.

Chuck,

Thank you for the offer.

We'll keep all options on the table, so to speak. :-)

Joe,

Maybe we could check with the Chinese restaurant we and Holley's ate at last year; they might have a banquet room. You remember the name?

Dave,

Wasn't that P.F. Chang's?

One question for those who plan to attend is, "Buffet or one-size-fits-all dinner?"

David,

That's the place! Re type of food, doesn't matter.

Ask the Hilton, Embassy Suites or one of the "suites"-type hotels along Paradise Rd (in front of the Convention Center) towards the airport from The Beach whether we could get a suite (or two) to be used as a hospitality suite for our group. We've done this for Rotary events whereby lots of Rotarians drop by. We set up a bar, and otherwise have things catered. Or we could provide our own buffet based on hors de vors(?) contributed by each of us. A list for these things could be started.

Try the Hilton first since many of "us" may be staying there (or not).

Wow! I haven't been on line due to some health issues and a few other "problems" but logged on today to squeeze a little help from you all when I read about The Beach closing the doors.

Didn't The Beach used to be THE place to go when in Vegas? That's too bad.

Todd and I won't be attending this year and will miss seeing all of you. We were just talking last night about the show. I was wishing we were going as there are a few items I would like to pick up at the show for lesser money. :S

I hope you find someplace just as nice as what we had last year. Have fun you all!

Jo & Todd

Jo,

Good to hear from you again.

We'll miss you and Todd next year, in Las Vegas, although the party will be well-documented, giving you a feeling of being there.

Thanks David!

I am sure camera happy people will keep Todd and I in the know, LOL.. Hope you find a good place and have a great time. I'm sorry we are missing out.

Have fun and in March I'll be looking for the pictures.

Ed,

In the "hospitality suite" scenario, is that more like people standing/milling around, as they come and go?

A room, some food, soda, and we, (all inclusive), are the ones who made the 'Beach Party'. The members can do it anywhere, location really does not matter except for the extra work in getting it set up.
