Would this be the same operator that Becky spoke to at the Hilton?

Some details from Embassy Suites (ES):

In order to schedule a banquet room, (this far out from our actual event date of Feb. 22, 2007) we'd have to commit a block of (10 minimum) rooms.

It's possible to reserve a banquet room, without committing to a block of rooms, but reservations can't be made until a month before the event.

At this time, full price for a room at ES, during the dates we'll be in town, are $229 per night.

ES is willing to negotiate a better price for a block of rooms.

There are two types of dinner arrangements:

Plated or Buffet.

To see the menu and pricing, go to www.eslvcc.com where you can scroll down to find that category.

Obviously, we'll want to look at more options, from other venues.

Just wanted to provide the facts for ES.

Darn that Beach place anyway. I was thinking I had it all sewn up with staying at the Somerset House across the street. That way - too many drinks - still can find my way home! Now I'll have to wander a bit before finding my home away from home.

We've used convention center rooms after hours in past years for meetings, but nothing where we've brought food in. The convention center is very difficult to deal with in regards to doing anything out of the ordinary or using it after hours. Too many times you get locked in or out of the center, which is a big pain when you have to walk all the way around to find someone to open a door.

Since so many people from the awards industry are staying at the Hilton, I don't see why the Hilton would not be open to providing one of their smaller meeting rooms that would hold about 100 people. There shouldn't be much of a cost if they provide the food for a small fee.

I thought that was a good thought too about finding out who is taking over the Beach and do the new owners what to have us there? Is the Beach closing with no reopening, or is it reopening under a different name?
How dead is that place after December David? Is it completely gone and don't bother with it, or is there a possibility of still being there but under new management?

The Embassy Suites is directly across the street from the convention center. The also serve a very good breakfast. I've used my Marriott rewards and traded out for that location several times. It is a great back up when your not able to get in the Hilton.

I thought I'd mention that Marriott also has a place that is right around the corner from the Beaches location, we also also stayed there last year for one of the trade shows we went to. They also have a good restaurant.

Thought I'd mention these places if others need back ups in case the Hilton does feel up.

Cindy,

Unless a demolition is planned, it's unlikely that the club itself is going away.

Who knows? It may reopen under new management, or under another name altogether.

I'll certainly check into that likelihood.

I've got a GREAT idea! Let's all just go to the Barry Manilow concert together. It's right there at the Hilton! I might even be able to get my BMIFC discount for all of us! (Yes, I'm a card-carrying member of the Barry Manilow Int'l Fan Club.)

:O)

From a blog about Las Vegas:

"It was a great spot for years in Vegas, but yesterday was the last night for the Beach. The property has been sold to a developer (to build a mixed use condo/casino hotel project.) "

Thank you for mentioning that David. It's good to know the alternatives in case the Hilton fills up.

Thank you Dave.

Does mixed use include Engraving Etc. parties? :-)

Actually, I got a lead from Barry (Beach) suggesting a restaurant right behind their location, which holds about 200 people.

I have the name of a contact and I'll see what their deal is for a private party.

Chuck,

Actually, one of our helpful forum members is talking to Quark's about a private room and buffet, which I didn't know they made available.

I'm all for holding the event at the Hilton, if the constellations align. :-)
