Any reason not to consider the MTS shear as well?

Not at all. I've been using the 9380 for years, although it was private labeled as a New Hermes shear.

Ideally, you'll have two shears. One for metal and one for plastic.

Since most of the material I shear is metal, I use one shear and change the blade, for plastics, when necessary. (4 bolts)

Note: If you go that route, don't forget to change the blade back for metal. >.<

Gary,
The only metal shear I have direct experience with is the Accu Cutter.
I bought it last year at the ARA show, after looking at a couple of other models also on display. I do not regret my decision one bit, in fact many times I have said to myself, "Self, I'm so glad I bought that cutter. I could not have done this without it".

Unfortunately I have never answered myself so I don't know what myself thinks...but *I* think it's GREAT and highly recommend it.
