Okay, so I have my 4 different types of super lube in, and I want to get into where the z axis rails/ are under the metal cover where the spindle is located. Easy, right?

So, I remove 3 screws and find that it appears other screws are hidden under the panel that covers the x axis screw. So, I take my first screw off the cover for the x axis screw, and a nut falls out. what the....

I look closer, and it appears this is holding the power chord away from the x axis screw. Now, I can't reach my fingers under the panel to put the nut back on the screw that holds the wire to the panel.

I also notice there are 6 other screws holding the panel, but it appears that there are additional "hidden" screws holding the x panel to the 2 y panel covers.

I figured this would be as easy as changing oil in a car.

Has anyone here ever taken their thin metal covers off the phoenix 1212 and able to put them back?

:-)

I plead guilty. I've had a 1212 for nearly 10 years (great machine) and removed th covers during the first week to get access for lubrication. I remember it was a painful job to get them off, let alone replaced, so I just left them off and that's how it has been ever since. Never had a problem.
