DUDE!

Thursday or Friday? Since it appears that a meeting room is going to be the way to go I submit Thursday, but it really doesn't matter to me one way or another I just need to know so I can make reservations for the Cirque Du Soleil "Love" at the Mirage.

Thanks

Chuck,

We're still gunning for Thursday. Still some calls to be made, but (fingers crossed) I think we're on the verge of a very cost-effective solution.

Thanks. I think we decided to try and book for Saturday anyway just in case. I mean what would the beach party be without ME?

Chuck,

I've seen Cirque de Soleil's "Mystere" at Treasure Island a few years back.

Almost worth missing a Beach Party for, but not quite. :-)

Actually, it was amazing. Have fun at their show.

Lisa,
I booked our tickets today. We are going on Saturday the 24th at 7:00 pm.
I have the sound track on my ipod right now and it is GREAT! Have you heard it yet? George Martin still has it. B-)

I bought my husband the cd set for Christmas! As soon as he puts a cd player in my truck... Otherwise I'll have to my daughter's headset!

Any new news on the location of the party?

Maybe in the alley between the convention center and the Hilton, we will bring in some Burger King Jr.'s.

Chris,

Still looking at a few options. What I thought was a cost-effective solution at the Hilton, after seeing the numbers, turned out to be a bit pricey.

We'll lock something in soon, but it may be away from the Convention Center.

Stay tuned.

I submit we revisit the Captains Lounge. "ALMOST" everyone from the forum will be at the Convention center on the day of the Beach Party. It would be convenient for everyone to be able to just stay there as opposed to going back to whereever they are staying, and then go out again to another place in who knows where.

Just my two cents. Want change?

Chuck,

I'll look at that scenario again. The reception room was originally thought to be a better deal, but didn't turn out to be.

I placed a call to the Imperial Palace just to check it out ( I hope I did not overstep my bounds ) and found they can do a reception for about $35 per person. It would include several food choices and a cash bar for 100 people. We have stayed at the IP several times and there are good and bad things about the place. It is old and shows the years of wear and tear. The good is it is on the Monorail, cheap, on the Strip and we have found the the couple of receptions we have been to there to be nice. I would be happy to place a follow up call and get more specific pricing if you want me to.

Just trying to help,

Thanks,

Tom,

There's no such thing as "overstepping" here, brother!

How far is the IP from the CC? Do they have and ICS so that DGL can MC the BP?

Just curious what the difference in price would be if it's 50 people instead of 100? Based on the other thread with the list of people I'm guessing you guys might have a crowd more in the 50 person range than 100 person.

Tom,

As Cody says, no such thing as overstepping bounds. I appreciate your legwork.

We're back to considering the Captain's Lounge (CL) in the Hilton. Primarily, because of its location, but also because (as an example) once we add tax and gratuity to a $35 per person buffet, we're close to $44 per person.

Last year, we had 68 people. I doubt we'll hit 100 this year.

My swarthy high school math skills say the CL will run $50 per person.

We haven't added anyone to "The List" since we fell into a state of indecision over a venue. I'd expect that activity to pick up again, once we make a firm decision.

Another consideration.

When you think about it (and I have) the odds of winning a door prize, in such a "cozy" group are very, very good.

Makes the cost of the Beach Party a worthy investment. :-)

Cody, the Imperial Palace is about a 5 minute monorail ride from the convention center. It is at the same stop as Harrah's.

This is the link to the menuhttp://www.imperialpalace.com/group_meetings.php?subid=51es and pricing. There is a 25 person min.

The Hilton does have its advantages and David your right, even at $50 with the door prizes is very fair.

Thanks,
Tom
