There is a nice looking shear for sale on eBay. It is not listed very well, which means it won't necessarily draw a high auction price. Keep an eye on it, if you are in the market for one. LINK

David,

An Accu Cutter, by any other name...

The description says it's for cutting Gravoply and Metallex, which means it's fitted with a blade for plastics.

It can easily be changed to a metal shear, by changing the blade.

Accu Cutter, (and I imagine Gravograph, by proxy), sells an 18" shear, in the same style.

That one seems to be a 12" shear.

At 8 bids and $56 with 5 days still to go, I don't think it is hidden very well. :-(

Do they make the standard style bigger to or just the guillotine model?
I have never seen the standard style any bigger.

This is the guillotine model I saw that is 19".

I am seriously thinking about getting one capable of cutting more than the 13" you can "squeeze" out of some of them. We now have to order and pay a cutting charge for bigger metal pieces. (I just profile plastic on the rotary in any size.)

Also if anybody has seen a shear that can cut up to 24" that would be even better or even other options for 18-19". But I don't have the room or frequent demand to justify something hugh like a floor model.

Also I wish they would put a larger table size on the shears. We have an old one on its last legs that Awardsmith made. It only cut 12 3/4" but the cutting bed was 20" long with an 18" ruler to easily measure and support a 12x24 sheet of metal. It even has rubber feet that came down with the blade to lock the metal in place before cutting. I got a new standard 12 inch model as the long one is wearing out but nobody will use it except me.

They love our smaller guillotine shears (main trophy 9385) for cutting plates with engraved guidelines but the bed size is so small it is hard to use it to precut larger square plates.

Was hoping to find something that would cut longer plates AND one
that other people will want to use to replace the one worn out one.

I think safety saws leave a rough sharp edge and dull the blades quickly, correct me if I am wrong about them.

Thanks

John,

I don't see the 18" paper cutter style shear on their web site, but I did see a magazine ad for one a while back.

I wonder if it was a prototype and they were sending out a feeler to gauge interest. :/

I was told that the larger guillotine models are made on demand, meaning, they don't carry a number of them in stock.

Part of the reasoning (from what I heard) is because the shear can be configured for right or left hand operation.
