Well everyone I just bought a Laser to cut plastic templates for my tags, BUT I may have just thrown away a bunch of money. There was no description and I do not know if it works. Where do I go for service and software? I am in RI.

Frank,

Obviously, Gravograph (New Hermes) originally sold the machine, but it's manufactured by Universal Laser Systems.

You could contact Gravograph, but I would be more inclined to look to Universal for service etc.

My laser is older than that one and works fine. I am unaware of that model but it looks pristine from the picture.

It is made by ULS. You should be able to buy an instruction manual from New Hermes, and ULS may have one on PDF.

ULS still supports mine and has drivers and updated firmware if needed, for free. The drivers basically are printer drivers, you set up the job in Corel and send to the laser printer driver. Not much more to it except learning what settings to use for what functions. That can take a while but the manual has good approximate settings to get you started. ULS is a wonderful company that always supports their old units. If you got a good price and the tube is good, you got a good deal.

Don' t worry about the $$$ spent on this, if it works. More than likely it does or it needs a little fine tuning. You'll make your $$$ back in a flash. I don't have this brand but I do have an Epilog. I don't know what I would do without mine. Good luck on the laser and keep us informed.

Frank,

This is the same model as our M300 there is nothing proprietary to New Hermes on this system.

If you need any help with it or need the driver let me know. We also have parts for that system.

Here is a dumb question:
1. Why would you buy something you know absolutely nothing about; not so much as a description. (wattage, age, does it work, does it have software)? I hope your leap of faith doesn't come back to bite you in the butt.

Frank,

Although I didn't make it to your booth, during the show, I did have the chance to meet you at the Universal booths.

It was a pleasure. :-)
