I am not sure calling a nice lady from Texas a "nag" is a good idea. I will bet your going to get some payback for that one.

By the way have you checked out the ARA Directory on line???

How is that for keeping us on the thread them?

Sorry Joe sent to you, as you were the last posting. I went to ARA as I needed a price for ready made films for sandblasting yesterday. I figured I'd contact Rayzist and PhotoBrasive. Before I would have picked up my directory and gotten their phone numbers. I threw the book away forgetting we wouldn't be getting new one this year. So I go to ARA and went to Find a Retailer (dummy me thinking of them as retailers for us) no such retailer in any state. So then I realize I should be looking at the online buyers guide - I must be really dumb as I thought (to save time) I'd just type in the two names with a comma between in the keyword area. Wrong can't locate them that way. So now I see the choice products or suppliers.. so I select sandbasting equipment and supplies and suppliers. and I still don't get Rayzist and Photobrasive instead I get Innotec and Media Blast.

If anybody from ARA is listening I want my paper copy back, I don't have time to waste trying to use your website!! I don't need this kind of stress trying to get a suppliers phone number. :'-(

This is my wasted time opinion (FYI - I ended up using anywho to get their phone numbers).

Zona,

Another aspect to consider, with most, (if not all), listings from trade organizations or magazines; they only represent exhibitors or advertisers to their events or publications.

Nothing wrong with that, but they're far from comprehensive.

Zona,

I figured the "secret" out this morning, when I was looking for Catania's contact info for a customer. I still have my '06 directory but I'm trying to force myself to use the new online directory so I can get a "feel" for it.

I'm sure, as time goes by, the buyer's guide search features will be more comprehensive, but I just left everything blank & hit "Search". That gives you the complete listing of all ARA suppliers. Click down to the "R" page & ta-da!

I know it's not perfect yet but I'm making it work for me. Hope that helps a little.

BTW, I'm sure you already found what you needed but here's the info:

David,

Unless I'm mistaken (I thought I was mistaken once, but I was wrong) :P , the online buyer's guide will be a list of ARA supplier members just like the previous hard-copy directory was.

Zona,

One other observation, the "search for supplier" by name/state/etc. is still located in the members-only section of www.ara.org.

Here's a "quick" link: http://www.ara.org/member/supplier.cfm

Hope that helps!

Jeanette,

I was commenting, in general terms, that the only suppliers that will be listed, from any source, from most any industry, will be those who spend money with the organization, either through ads in publications or through exhibiting/membership fees.

As it should be.

It's just an answer to a question some may have, as to why not all suppliers are listed.
