I think you're making assumptions there. Keeping developers under a given group is about management and corporate efficiency. But the code developed there is being used across the entire product spectrum, and even for hardware that Apple doesn't make.

You are completely wrong with your facts in reagrds to Quicktime. Quicktime remains part of the OS technology for Apple (organizationally and otherwise) and is heavily invested in.
Please keep opinions as opinions and, if you are going to speak "facts", please make don't make them up.
