Full Version: Chinese Laser---Anyone have one?

Anyone have the chinese made 40 watt laser that is selling on Ebay?

I am going to buy one. I make a lot of dog tags (pet tags).
I engrave and print using oem toner and also some sublimation tags. I want to add lasered tags. I use chewbarka tags now so I can use the same blanks.

The price of this engraver is about all I would want to spend on a machine that is only going to do tags. The business would not be able to support a model costing too much more.

I have emailed and received positive comments from current owners here in the USA. But would like to hear if anyone here has one.

The down side is of course support. The company support is via email. But I am an electronic technician and can handle the electronics and mechanical aspects of the laser. They sell a replacement 40 watt tube for $350.00.

If anyone is interested I will keep the forum updated on this laser.

The only comment I have heard is that the tube life is shorter, although at $350 ea., that is something you can budget for.

I believe Rodney Gold mentioned a while back that he was considering one as an experiment. I'm not sure if he took the plunge or not.

Let us know how you fair. Brush up on your metrics. :-)

I also found out that the laser menus are in chinese. The manufacturer provides a list of translations.

The laser is ordered. I am suppose to hear when the payment has been credited to the companies account. Shipping is suppose to be in 1-2 weeks, plus 4 days shipping after the payment is received.

My total investment so far is $1950.00. $450 shipping. $1500 for the laser.

Steve,

Is this the Redsail machine?

If so, we have a forum member who is using one. Is Ron the owner you mentioned?

Absolutely; keep us updated as to your progress and observations.

Hi Steve,

I purchased a world laser which is a Chinese unit. If you go to www.step-servo.com then click on english. There you will find out about all the electronics that are in the unit you purchased. There is also a download area for the software manual and the wiring diagrams.

I have the unit about 2 weeks just learning how to set things on fire.

I am not aware of the brand name.

It is this laser:

Steve,

Does Power supply = 220V mean the machine doesn't run on 110V?

Also, from the photos, unless I'm missing something, it looks like some assembly may be required.

It has two different places that mention power. One states: "Power supply can change between 110V and 220V according to your requirement" and the other lists 220v 50hz.

"some assembly required" would be a bit scary...

Over in the Sawmillcreek forum there was quite a discussion about the "Chinese Lasers". http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=29400&highlight=chinese+laser

It can be changed from 110 to 220 volts.

When I ordered the laser they asked what voltage to set it at.

Steve,

Any asembly required? I couldn't determine what the pictures on eBay were supposed to be describing. Looked like the machine was being assembled.

I am being told no assembly required.

Can anyone identify the actual manufacturer of this laser by looking at it:

I guess I should have asked this before I ordered it!

I also am asking the ebay seller.

Steve,

There is a company named Wing Fai Co. that sells this machine.

Here is the link to your machine. http://www.wingfaico.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=28

They also offer a Wrinkle Freckle Hair Removal Photorejuvenation Stand IPL, whatever that is.

To be honest, you may never find out. I've done some research on the chinese lasers and there are dozens of companies all claiming to be the manufacturer of any given model.

The one on ebay has the model number YH40. That model number comes from Guangzhou Yinghe (hence the "YH").

http://www.yhmachine.com/sdp/124595/4/pd-1088854/2609302-546096.html

But are they the manufacturer? I don't know, but I doubt it. On that page they describe the YH40. But the photo shows 3 lasers. The one on the left is the one you bought. The one in the middle is a model sold by a lot of companies, each claiming to be the manufacturer. It's the WK-40 from WK Laser. The Rabbit HX-40 from Jinan Hengxing. The DC-K40 from Liaocheng Shenhui. And the IE300 from Ink Express Hong Kong. RedSail used to manufacture the same model, but it's not on their site any more. Jinan Singhui also had that model on their site a couple of months ago and claimed to be the manufacturer, but it's gone now. Those are just some of the ones I've found.

And BTW, even with the same model numbers, the same lasers have changed looks a number of times in the past 6 months on several of those sites. One of them even sells the same model in several parts of their site and each photo is of a laser in a different case with slightly different controls but the same model number.

The Yinghe is the only one I found that looks exactly like the one in the ebay auction, but like I said, you never know.

My guess is that either somebody in China is selling kits and each company then is truely the "manufacturer" by making the kits and selling the finished units, or maybe none of these companies is the real manufacturer and they're made by a couple of small factories that don't speak english and sell to a lot of resellers.

I'm just making some educated guesses here. I have not found any definitive proof of who actually makes any of those cheap Chinese lasers.

I am not sure if they make it or just sell it. The products look similiar to what others are selling.

Good information.

Were you thinking about buying one? Or did you?

You sure did a lot of research, thank you for sharing.

Ever since I first saw them about 6 months ago I started looking into them, thinking they would be the way to go because of the price. I keep looking, but I bought an Epilog 6 months ago and am very glad I did.

I have some friends who go to China on a regular basis to the technology areas there, mostly relating to video equipment. I keep hearing stories from them of how there are thousands of "companies" operated by people out of their apartments, but pretending to be large companies.

Maybe they are made by the earlier referred to: "shipment of unique components of not popular firms" that was offered in the Jobs folder. This might explain why we have so many names associated with the YH 40. All of the companies that represent thse laser systems might have already beaten us all to the punch and submitted their CV to the manufacture. (devil)
