Full Version: Bad black brass

Has anyone else had any problems with the black brass from JDS? My last two shipments have not been good. They have imperfections in the finish. You can see swirls in it and places seem to have fuzz trapped between the metal and finish. I have wasted an outrageous amount of material because I cut a piece, pull off the protective coating and then discover the problem. I called JDS and the reply was that they weren't aware of any problem and I should send them back the bad pieces and they will replace them. There are two problems with that. 1. When you cut a piece and it is bad you are also left with the scrap. 2. I would send the bad pieces in but I keep coming accross more and more!
If anyone else has been having a problem with the black brass, please call them and say something. The more people that speak up, maybe they will actually believe there is a problem. I know it can't just be my luck.

It may well be that they haven't encountered the problem yet. One thing about JDS--they take back and replace whatever you tell them is bad.
I buy plaques by the case and sometimes I don't use all of them for quite a long time. Then I discover one is cracked. They have always replaced everything.
I also got some brass I didn't like--nothing wrong with it but it wasn't the look I wanted. They took that back with no hassle.
