Full Version: Mirror Spray

All,

I found out from Terry Morris on the DSSI forum that there is a new product from Krylon named Looking Glass. Take a look at http://krylon.com/main/inspiration_template.cfm?levelid=3&inspirationid=39&content=inspiration_details to get more information. Notice the ornaments on that page that were created with this product.

Looking Glass is a spray kit that allows you to turn a piece of clear glass into a mirror. Think of what new artisitic opportunities a product like this would open for our industry. Terry brought up the idea of mirroring a sublimated glass substrate "after" imprinting. He was also curious about the look of a sandcarved piece of glass that was mirrored after the carving.

I am heading to Michael's and/or Hobby Lobby today to find out if this is on their shelves yet. I know that there are many stores, including Walmart, that carry Krylon products.

I will let you know what I find out.

I have seen that. I have wanted to try some on an etched glass but have not got around to it. Let me know how it turns out.

Haven't had the time to try it yet, but I picked some up at home depot the other month. The box contains two cans, the mirroring and a protective overcoat. Its meant to be viewed through the glass, not from the side you spray. From the pictures on the package I suspect it's ornamental; don't expect to use it as you would a real mirror.

Box says it must not come into contact with food or living plants.

If no one with actual experience responds, I might be able to find the time to test it and follow up here.

Ken & Jim,

Our local Michael's store did not have the Looking Glass product. Do you have any recomendations on where to purchase it?

David,

I was mistaken in an earlier post I did not get it at home depot.
You can check out www.etchworld.com look under craft supplies.
An earlier post in this thread gave the manufactures page for the item. In the right column of that page is a link to stores that carry it.
