I just finished watching a speech by one of the candidates for President.
So out of curiosity I have started a straw poll.

I very much realize that it is WAY early, but what the heck. I have only listed those candidates that "appear" to be the eventual front runners. I realize there are others. But then again this is just for fun.

Please check your guns at the door and remember the bar is closed. ( insert western drawl laugh here)

If that is what the "probables" look like in Hawaii, it is no wonder that you still eat poi! 8-O

We (New York) elected Hillary for only one reason.... to get her out of the state so she would stop getting in the way of Bill's social life! 8-O

I think you should add "none of the above" for now until there are more announced candidates. At that time, the voters would be able to change their choice as real candidates pop up.

Chuck,

The sad part of the election process, beginning so far in advance of...well...the election season, is that the candidates who are in the best position to take a firm stand on issues and spur legislation that could possibly move the country forward, are frozen in their tracks, for fear that doing so, (or saying the wrong thing) would kill their chances at winning the Presidency.

The public's overwhelming vote, (last November) for "change" hasn't produced anything, except more talk and the continuation of business as usual.

Why am I not surprised? :S

From what I have seen and heard, the Dems are calling it a mandate for their programs and the Repub's recognize it as a vote against Bush and not a vote for the Dems.... Both are probably to blind to see...

Steve,

THAT is the problem. The DEMS, the Repubs....NO ONE is talking about US!

Except one ......

David,
I agree, but there appears to be one out of the pack that doesn't seem to care........lets hope.

You really need to add "None of the above" to your choices. See you next week.

I tried. One cannot edit a poll. But I honestly believe the race will come down to a contest between those folks.

See you next week too.

How about adding McCain, Edwards and Mitt Romney?

I understand where you're coming from with your choices, but I think the poll is a bit off kilter because you have two evenly matched Asses, and one Elephant.....

If you had one Ass and one Elephant,...I'm guessing the race would be a lot closer. ;)

Edwards is out of the race due to his handling of two of his staffers.... both anti-christian bloggers that he/his staff refused to fire until minutes after the story broke wide open on the O'Reilly tv show....

Edwards refused to discuss the matter before it went public and was supporting the two "ladies" right up to after the tv disclosure which he KNEW was coming since he was asked to appear to discuss it a week before the show aired.

What part of DUMB doesn't he understand?

It's your poll. Far be it from me to suggest that it actually be representative of the entire serious slate of candidates, or what may actually be the contenders in the end.

At least two of the three that you have put so much weight behind won't even be there their respective party's nominee. Guaranteed.

My vote is "NONE OF THE ABOVE". Our next President is not listed among the choices. I guarantee it.

Gotta agree with Ed on this one....I don't think our next president will be any of the above. Clearly, I don't know.

Can't remember the guy's name right now, but I'm liking the Congressman from California. I've heard a couple of interviews with him, and so far I like what I hear. He seems to be a pretty staunch conservative....for now.

I guess this is what makes politics. If he is a staunch conservative he will NEVER get my vote. I want a leader who looks at the issue and doesn't follow the party line. Am I naive - probably! Do I keep hoping - absolutely!

Giulioni's leadership goes a long way for me, but I take issue with some of his core values that shift him to the left (abortion for one).......I think he may be a hard guy to beat however, because I know many left of the aisle that like him because of his core value shift...I'm just not sure he represents the party base. I see him as a front runner at this point, but it would be nice to see more choices. It's extremely early to be calling winners.....

McCain is to the Republicans to what Lieberman must be to the Democrats. A black sheep gone astray........I have no trust in him doing the "right thing" for people with my core values. These two should run together and pick up all the moderates as an alternative party ;)

Hillary is a deep rooted liberal in a moderates clothing .......Obamma has an extremely liberal voting record, even though both of them are aiming towards the center to gain voters.

Far too early to tell....although I see Guilioni as the head of the pack for leadership and ability to pick up the moderate voter. It all depends on if the Grand Old Party will get behind him or not........He may lose too much of the base to win the big dance.

My hope is that someone with great leadership and character will step up to the plate for the GOP, but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps Duncan Hunter???

Major points of interest for me in this next election.......Mouth service isn't enough any more...We need some action.

1. Border security. Obviously needed for immigration reform, and security of our country against Terrorist attacks. Lets start doing military maneuvers on the borders with live ammo...That ought to keep them back on their side of the fence.... :)

2. Immigration reform. Enough already. Lets uphold the current laws or change them the way the founding fathers allowed for change. Make it less appealing to break the law than it is to follow it. Threats without consequences are what created this problem...We need a healthy dose of consequences to fix it.

3. Iraq war. Let the military win on their terms, Don't hold them back for political correctness. Let them win the war...Don't send them home with a job half done unless THEY determine that the situation is hopeless. All the armchair Generals need not apply.

Brian,

On immigration reform, maybe you heard, (on last evening's newcast), that the good old Bank of America is offering credit cards to people with no Social Security numbers (read as illegal aliens).

How about the union in South Carolina allowing people of questionable immigration status to join their ranks?

Their logic being, if the people were hired by the meat packing plant, they must have shown proper identification, in order to be hired, therefore, we can bring them into the union.

In both cases, just another fund raising practice. :S

I agree....it's all crap.....Businesses, renters, and any licensing or credit card company need to be responsible for what they are doing..........Accountability needs to be there all the way through the system.
