I have an Epilog Rotary attachemnt. The problem is I'm trying to etch 24+ SS Double Wall Mugs with "D" handle. With the handle so close to the top edge you're not able to use the "Hold down Clip" on the inside of the mug because it is too short! Headed down to the local hardware store (Lowe's) went to the nuts and bolt section with the pull out drawers. Found a 1/2" x 8/32 extension. Took off the screw of the Hold Down Clip with a 3/32" Allen Key, inserted the 1/2" extension replaced wheel and screw...... WORKS GREAT!!!!
Hey, I wonder if there could be a "JIG" link so others that have had to come up with a great idea could place it there.

Ray,
You're living proof that necessity is the mother of invention....fantastic idea!! Can't wait to see the pics!
Where invention is concerned, well.....I'm afraid I'm an orphan.

It may or may not apply on this particular mug, but I want to be sure you know that the front half of the drive mandrels can be removed to hold many items where the handle comes close to the top.

Fabricated some "replacement" hold down wheels out of 3/16" acrylic of various diameters and now can use the right-sized wheel for the job.

Roy, Can you explain in more detail or do you have a visual of what you are talking about.

Ray,
You'll note two black capped thumbscrews on each of the drive mandrels. When you unscrew these you'll see that the front 1/2 of these come off allowing you to use the normal spring loaded wheel to get a good grab on mugs that have handles very close to the top of the mug. BTW, this feature is mentioned in your EX manual, but you had to be concentrating to catch it; newer manuals show this graphically.
If Craig is "listening," often the remaining single wheel will get a grab on wine goblets "curve away too quickly."
I, like you and Craig, have also made extensions, additional wheels and other "add ons" to make a very versatile cylindrical attachment hold objects it otherwise would not.
