The ATG gun takes a roll of adhesive and release tape and transfers the adhesive only to the item, no carrier in the middle. The 3M product in 10 mil has a grab you will not believe.

It is used for trophy metal. I probably would not recommend it for tiles though.

I need to sell this adhesive appilicator. The first $20 takes the applicator. You pay shipping from Colorado.

I am wondering if it would work for tiles and applying an adhesive so I could apply a cork backing to them.

John,

I think you would have a difficult time applying a cork backing to tiles period, due to the irregularity of the backs of the tiles themselves.

With that said, have you tried contact cement or a spray adhesive?

Cork that comes with an acrylic adhesive works excellent on tiles, we have used it for years.

I already have two, but that is a great price for the ATG gun alone.

The beauty is that there is no backing to peel and that it applies adhesive only. A 10 mil ATG tape will hold almost anything, it is 10 mil adhesive.

If you buy 10 mil double sided tape you get about 4 mil adhesive/2 mil carrier/4 mil adhesive. You would be amazed at what the true 10 mil adhesive from 3M can hold. (You will never get a piece of brass off an item without destroying the brass. You can get a brass plate off with a bit of trouble with the normal tapes. This stuff is permanent.)

Hi Chuck .... yes, I have tried contact cements and various sprays that have worked with mixed sucess. Still continuing the search for the 'ultimate spray'. Say, how was 'vegas? I bet you had a great time!

Mick ... for several years I was able to purchase cork with an adhesive backing and it was reasonably priced, cut perfectly to size for 4" tiles and it had excellent adhesion. Unfortuantely, my supplier, Marck & Associates dropped them off their list ... I assume demand just wasn't there. :'-(

You can buy it at McMaster Carr and cut it yourself

Betty, I might be interested. Where in Colorado are you? I'm in Colorado Springs...

Mike
