Forgive me for this, but when is the show in Atlantic City. Maybe I could try and make that one. I am not a member of the ARA though. Should I be? What are the benefits of joining?

Unfortunately, I'm out. :'-( The Snowbirds (aka The Sitters aka The Grandparents) are not coming back from their Florida vacation until early April, so I have no-one to take the kiddies for the week-end while hubby and I go to the show. :-(

Barbara,

Rumor had it that the ARA was going to waive the admission fee, for non-members, in an effort to boost attendance to the show.

No first-hand information other than the strong rumor.

If you've never been to a trade show, I'd say it's worth attending.

Beat me to it. I just logged in to make the list. The ARA is going to waive the admission, I recieved two passes for the show before I renewed my membership. I PMed Barbara with the offer for her to use them, but haven't heard back as of yet.

I have signed up for a couple of the seminars on Thursday, so will be there with my daughter. Anyone that is going on Thursday let me know so we can meet up.

Mine came in the mail. I guess as either a reminder to renew or as an incentive to go. I will call in the morning, and see what I can find out. I'll post what I can find out early afternoon tomorrow. I just looked at the website and found nothing. The passes give a promotional code and you can register online or just present the pass when you get to the show. These are good only for the show floor not any of the seminars. I would post the code but I would rather find out from ARA if it is OK.

I am looking at seeing if I can go to this event. Unfortunately I will not know until last minute, which in turn will be too late to request a badge. Would it be bad of me to request one even if it does not work out that I can go?

Dee and I spoke to the ARA at the show due to the rumors.

They are sending out passes to former members of ARA and businesses they believe are true engraving companies from their research. No pass, no admission. It is a way of cautiously increasing the visitors.

Of course members will have no problems getting in.

Steve,

I'll be sending the badges to Gary Shoemake, with the exception of a couple that I'll be sending to the recipients directly.

Unless plans have been made for our folks to meeet up, I'd suggest that arrangements be made with one of the exhibitors, as a central place of distribution.

Just got off the phone with the folks at ARA. There are no more passes such as the ones I recieved. It was an inducement for me to renew my membership. According to the young lady I spoke to, she did leave the phone to check on it for me, if you preregister online or by phone it will cost $30.00 at the door, or as they term it on site it will be $40. I'm sorry that I don't have better news.

Those that are attending, can you give me an idea as to your schedule, so I can arrange a place to meet so that I can get your badge to you?

Gary,
I just called Mike at Kamark. He would be more than happy to have all the badges left at his booth for pickup. They can be shipped directly to him or you can send them to me & I will drop them off to him. He is 15 minutes from me. As an exhibitor he will be there when the show opens.

Sounds good to me. Will he be available on Thursday in case some want to pick them up early? I was waiting to get some of the folks schedule to pick a meeting place, there aren't that many so far.
