Full Version: Paperless office

A fellow employee of mine recently posted a message asking what software others are using for job scheduling, and someone suggested Google Calendar. I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions for actually keeping track of customers and history, so that we don't have to keep running to the file cabinet when repeat customers come in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

xman,

A lot of folks use ACT! as a contact manager......full featured and quite powerful.

Xman,

Any good ponit-of-sale software worth its weight should have that built in as a standard feature.

A product was displayed at the ARA show in Vegas, it is called BizWizard Professional. It does just about everything: Order entry, Employee management, Customer management, Vendor management, Calendar, Accounts receivable. It is put out by NetSoft Studio
Link

It is priced "per year" and includes all of the updates as needed.
I must say, I think it is very nice but above my comfort level as far as price. The ARA show special was about half of the prices listed on the web site.

Quickbooks is a relative inexpensive book-keeping program that can have a lot of data reasonably quick. I have used it for years.

Sam,

Same here. We've used QB Premier for the last three years, and have found it invaluable in this area.

We have a couple of school accounts that give us several big orders each year ($5,000 to $7,000 per order). They want to get the same (or similar) awards each year, and they want them delivered at the same time as last year.

It takes about 10 seconds to find an invoice from last year.

The ONLY problem is that QB won't let you copy an invoice. You can memorize a transaction, but not copy it. Hmmmmm.....maybe I can look into that more this week.

I use quickbooks V.6. Been using it for several years. Even bought AB pro one time, but really did not need that degree of involvement. Has served me well thru the years.
I do not have a hitch in my git-a-long, however, I am not as quick as I would like to be. How are things in Sulphur Springs, Texas? I used to have a customer there. Tapp FH

Sam,

Things are pretty good down here!

Tapp's is still here. In fact, I could throw a rock through their front window from my shop.

What product/service did you provide them? You know, it's much better to have THEM as a customer, than for them to have YOU. :B

For twenty years 1975-1995 I was a sales rep for a chemical supply/equipment business. Tapp FH was a good customer.

Am I missing something. Why is everyone abbreviating "Funeral Home"? :S

What Funeral Home?

We were talking about the Tapp Funnelcake House.

Cody,

One leads to the other, so there is a correlation. >.<

Is it possible to become completely paperless, I can't see how.
