Where is the best place to find stainless steel tags suitable to be cermarked and sent to off shore platforms?

There's a couple of stainless tags at: http://www.idplates.com/b-tagsass.html

There are more choices at McMaster Carr, but they cost more.

I buy stainless from a place called Metal Cut to Length. Look in the Yellow Pages for a place like that. They shear it to size (as long as it is rectangular or square.) There are at least three different companies here in Kansas City that provide the same service. The thinner gages shear with pretty smooth edges.

Bob, I work with a local shop that cuts my stainless steel tags with a YAG so I can have any gauge (18 or 20 being the most poular) I also use a lot of T304 and T314 with or without mirror finish. You can PM me the specs you need and I'd be happy to get a quote for you.

Zona, that sounds very interesting. I am located in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Where are you located? I am looking for 20 gauge 1x3 stainless in either 316 or 304. I am needing 200 pieces. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob

Zona,

Where are you getting your stainless? I have been using Young's for 316 ss. I can get 304 locally both in 10 or 16 gage. Both are cut with a shear and not a YAG. Even though the ones I use are industrial the edge a YAG would give might be worth the additional cost.

The company use to be called CJS Industries and I'm not sure the new name as they sold/merged with another company this past fall. One of the owners is a scuba buddy of mine. He does all my metal cutting for me. I'll check with him Monday so see if they have a website for you.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. The cost for 200 would be $.45 each for 304 stainless, with either a 2B or a #3 finish.

Bob,

Another source is "Engraving Specialties". You can get in contact with them by clicking on the links just above on this page then select "Publications, Engravers journal, Web links, Engraving Specialties".
