Hi all,
I've been presented with 2 silver goblets and been asked to engrave them. Trouble is I've never attempted silver on the laser.
Can it be done ?
Thanks
Dave

I did them with Cermark and they came out fine.
I have never done Sterling Silver before, and have been told that it cannot be marked with a laser engraver.
I hope that answers the question.

Somebody mentioned on one of these forums that marking silver using Cermark is not as permanent as people would like because silver is so soft that after polishing it a few times the mark will start to wear off.
I have no experience with that so am just passing on what I've read.
Of course the "old fashioned" method of engraving lasts a long time, as can be seen by walking into any antique shop and looking at engraved silver. Sometimes the new toys aren't the best for a given purpose.

I have had to replace many of these items, and frankly, it's just not worth it to me. I am going to do only the ones that I have in my store and not other peoples. And even then you never know how they will do. The coating is a problem.
