We got anywhere from $4.95 to 9.95, depending on the size, with 2 lines drag engraved. $4.00 for each additional line.

$8.00 to $10.00 each is the going rate. Forget selling on E-bay, they are having price wars! I have seen engravers sell engraved tags for $2.00 each there!

Very much depends on the tag and the engraving method. My retail prices vary from $8 to $30.
Bulk orders - very much depends on the order.
Anodised aluminium is very price sensitive - to compete here then price is a big factor - particularly on the internet. I would always encourage a pet owner away from this metal and encourage them to select something more durable.
Also there are plenty of organisations out there who do order in multiples (10's . 100's, 1000's) with the same engraving on each tag. e.g. Pet walkers, rescue centres, breeders, Dog Wardens ...
These are some of my best orders.
Many "non pet" customers use these for other things. Had some fantastic orders come through this route

Hi Cody
As an example, One person wanted to use my brass tags as cheap Key Fobs. they bought a couple of hundred, and keep coming back for more (I don't sell / market / advertise key fobs) another company wanted about 3 x 300 anodised aluminium with "breakfast", "dinner", and "lunch" engraved - used as dinner tokens! I offered something better if they wanted to wait a little longer - but this was what they wanted! And been back for more ... I sell some with small designs, or plastic cut into various shapes - e.g. plastic tags for cats in a fish shape. Last week asked for 1000 fish as a giveaway. I don't have the capacity at the moment so thats the one that got away! These orders have always arrived via internet. People looking for something close enough to what they need

Cody - also forgot the most typical non-pet order for 'pet tags' - valve tags
I don't look for work from the industrial sector - my main focus is retail. However, I often get to quote for, and secure orders for valve tags. These people see I do dog tags and ask for prices on valve tags.
I stock stainless steel pet tags that are very suitable for a lot of industrial environments. Also offer aluminium & plastic that I use for pet tags (depending on the intended use of the valve tag).

We do them very seldom and charge $10.00 for brass pet tags
with drag engraving. Once we had someone looking for
300 cheap pet tags with three lines if engraving as a giveaway,
quoted him $2.00 each...... his said hi has a quote of $0.45 each
from another place..... I looked at him and said ----" $0.45 and you are still shopping around???".
We do a lot of valve tags but not much profit with them.
