Do you know how it is when you find a company that is so well run, you find it difficult to believe? Personally, I don't see many these days.

Well, here's one:

Jimani Inc. is a company located in Oxnard, CA which specializes in high quality YAG laser engraving. Their specialty is marking high volume orders for the ad specialty industry. They also sell the laser systems used in their work.

Need pad printing? Thay have that base covered too.

Do you remember my editorial, titled "Turn Down the Volume" in which I detailed a nightmarish experience with a 2,000 pc. engraving order? To recap, if you're not set up with the staff and equipment for such orders, you can quickly find yourself in trouble.

That was my situation, a couple of weeks ago.

I had accepted an order for laser engraving 400 wooden hourglasses. The timers would have a logo engraved on each end. Piece of cake, right?

Originally, I was going to have a friend in the industry do the job. In the heat of the Christmas season, she informed me that they didn't have time to run the job themselves, but offered the use of their machine, so I could run the job.

That would have been fine, except I found that I didn't have the time either. I would have to either kill myself, with endless hours of "off-hour" engraving, or disappoint the customer, which wasn't an option.

Knowing my predicament, my friend decided to approach Jimani Inc. with the job.

(I was aware of Jimani, but didn't know they engraved wood)

To make a long story endless, Jimani was able to do the job, within my due date, and more importantly, within a price range that would allow me to realize a decent profit.

In closing, I still believe that if you're not prepared for high volume, labor intensive jobs, you should "Turn Down the Volume".

Now, I'm a firm believer that, if you're not prepared for that type of work, but want to captilaize on that kind of work, you should pick up the phone and call:

Jimani Inc.

He and his helpful staff will be happy to assist you.

PS - I've told Jim's son, Chris, about our forum and he says when he finds time, he'd like to check it out.

Not sure when that will be. Last time I saw Chris, he was working so hard at preparing UPS shipments, that an octopus couldn't have kept up :-)

Mark,

Thank you for adding the website to the mix.

I think all of us could have used an octopus, over the past few weeks :-)

Happy Holidays

Joe,

The sandtimers were supplied by the customer. Don't know where they came from. The surface was a dark mahogany color, but they lased with a "pine" color. I was surprised.

Running time for the image (CO2) was almost 2 min.

Running time for YAG = 10 sec. (if that).
