I always check snopes.com when I hear about anything like this, especially anything that seems like it could be an urban legend. This, however, is very real. It's not new but it is a threat. Here is a link to the story on snopes.

If you get those "watch out for this" or "the government isn't printing In God We Trust on money anymore", I urge you to check out snopes. There are a lot of people who are only trying to do good but they are clogging up everyones email with junk.
