If the CerMark adheres to stone, I can say from first-hand experience, the mark will be permanent.
That is, I've taken a wire brush to an Atomic Art (AA) image, on ceramic tile and couldn't get it to budge.
AA uses an variation of TherMark, but I think the permanence aspect would be the same.

I can't say whether or not it will work, but you can bet I'll be trying it over the next couple of days. I have a friend that wanted me to laser some river rocks for pet headstones - I'll try black cermark instead - good idea!
