Full Version: Memorial Headstones?

Awhile back I purchased a 9 X 14 X 2 inch granite block from Lasersketch. I engraved in it as a sample and put it on display. Little did I know the attention it was going to get. Problem is that Lasersketch has been out of stock on the item since December. I have inquired and was told March sometime. Considering it's mid March now, and the items are still out of stock. It looks grim to be getting them anytime soon. My other problem is that I do not want to offer products that I can't get. So my question, is there another supplier out there offering these bricks? I have attempted to contact Artistic Laser and have not rec'd a response. I was hoping to find a supplier a little closer as well.

I spoke to a granite countertop person but they do not get pieces that thick in! Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Nick,

Have you tried contacting a company in you area that makes headstones?

It might be a longshot, but they may sell you a blank piece of material.

David,

You reminded me of something that I meant to post last week...

My Pastor asked me to get a bronze plate mounted onto a granite stone, similar to what you'd see in a cemetery. This is for a memorial service for our late music minister.

I called Matthews Bronze to get pricing. Of course, since I don't buy from them on a regular basis, my cost was high (about $400, as I recall).

I then went to a local monument place - the owner happens to be a customer of ours - to get the granite. When I explained what we were doing, he told me that he could get the plate at a MUCH lower price from a company in Oregon (I forgot the name), AND that it would be here ahead of our deadline. He showed me some samples of this company's work (stuff he's working on now), and it looked fantastic.

He's now going to get the plate and the stone, assemble them, AND deliver the finished product to the spot that we need it placed. All of this for less than what Matthews was going to charge just for the plate!

I've never had to buy anything from him before (thankfully), but next time I need anything like this, he will be my one-stop-shop!

Cody,

Some (most/all?) of the bronze casting companies have special arrangements with the memorial industry. In fact, they won't sell memorial castings to their dealers, who aren't in that industry.
