Full Version: Source for Wooden Keychains

Does anyone have a source for these laser engravable wooded keychains that are 1 1/2" to 2" in diameter. They already have all of the hardware attached so all you have to do is engrave them and you are done. I found them on Laserbits but I'm looking to purchase several hundred so I would like to find a better price.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks,

That's Laserbits' price also so I feel that I can do better. If no one else comes up with a source, I'll give Johnson a call. I may be able to get a little better price with a quantity order.

Johnson's price is at 250 pieces and price breaks are only .03

Did you try calling Laserbits and ask if they'll give you a bulk price?

I could swear I saw these displayed on a wood products manufacturer's site that was mentioned here 6 months ago, but I checked the ones I have bookmarked and didn't see it.

Colorado Heirloom has them. Not sure of the price off hand, but I have ordered them before.

No, I haven't but that is a good idea. Laserbits certainly performs a useful function and I don't want to minimize what they do. But everything on their site is purchased -- they don't make anything (as far as I know). Since most wood products are generic and "commodity" type items, I usually can find a much better price by dealing directly with a manufacturer. I was hoping that someone on the forum would know a wood company that makes these kinds of things.

I was wondering if it might have been them. When I tried their site today, looking for them, their site was not working.

Many wood items these days come from China, so it's often not a matter of dealing with the manufacturer as it is dealing with the importer. Usually dealing with a manufacturer in China will have several thousand dollar minimums.

If Colorado Heirloom is the manufacturer, then that's another story.

Those items are imported from China and the margins are not high enough that you could save more than a few cents on a 1000.

Ahother source would be "The Gavel Company" on the last page of their catalogue.
Hope this helps

Bill,

The good folks at A&B Supply can help you. They had a special on the forum for a while. It may have expired.

Thanks to everyone that helped out.

It looks like Laserbits is about as good as it gets. Kind of surprising to me but it just goes to show that my assumptions aren't always correct.

Nick and Bob,

You both are correct -- Colorado Heirloom has them. I talked to them today and they have them in stock.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Dave,

This might be a good source when I need several thousand pieces. However, I still prefer to buy stuff made on this side of the Pacific and support other small businesses here in the US if it makes economic sense for me and my customers.

Bill,

Unfortunately, any product like this is made in China. You could decide to buy in smaller quantities domestically, but you will still be buying China manufactured product. That is just the reality of the free enterprise market we participate in.
