I second the suggestion to contact Frank Ricci at Chewbarka. Their "new" formulation provides a clean, white image when lasered and if one of their brass color variations fits, it should be a no-brainer for your customer.

I second Steve's recommendation to see if they will go with Chewbarka gold anodize.
His stuff does laser white. I saw the Clear anodize product he offers and was amazed. It barely looks anodized, fairly shiny. It does also engrave white. It looks like it was painted at 600 DPI.
You can also push that anodize is a very hard coating and will also last longer.

again I say LAMA1 mirror finished anodized aluminum.
Or Hey (or is it Hay) , get a diamond drag machine..
since this contract will be worth what 20-30K a year buy a good Rotary machine and expand your service offer.
