Hi to ALL
Need your help again :-$

I like to get into sublimation or OEM, what I learn so far is
that i can do OEM using a laser printer with Mick's paper.
I learn Oki 3400 and 5500 are good printer to buy.
OEM is cleaner than sublimation and the laser don't clog like jet ink printer do.
No one does that around here and it look simple to learn and fun do do,and for bonus it's cheaper to start then laser engraving.
I figure that i have the cash for that sort of equipement and I will sart making money right away and get my cash for my laser engraver faster(this is my plan) maybe wishfull thinking.
I'm getting a good price 300. for the first one and 450 for the second one. in cd. money.
Now whish one to get and can I use the ink that comes with the printer or do I have to get special ink to do OEM and if so where do I buy it.

I still have to buy the cup heater and the press and maybe the plate one too.
Bottom line I need all the advise that you can give me.
I would like to take a course ,but can't find any.
pleasure to read you all.

Hi Ray

Before you buy anything, I would suggest you do more reading on the 2 processes to have a better understanding of the strengths and weakness'of both.

OEM transfers mean you use the toner that comes in the laser printer but you need special paper ( either hardgoods or softgoods paper) to print on prior to using your heatpress to transfer to the substrate.

Inkjet dyesub uses special inks run thru an Epson printer and then heatpressed to either a polyester coated substrate or to a polyester cloth substrate.

There is information here to read as well as another forum that deals with OEM and dye sub transfers. (dyesub.org)
Doing research can save you a lot of grief and money down the road.
I for one use both processes and don't see one or the other as the answer.

Hope this helps

Dave

Hi Dave ,
I will continue to read about it.
What I understand that getting special ink with special coated article versus getting special laser printer and special paper the last one is less problem and probably cost effectif.

For which one is the best I don't know until I see the result on something or talk to someone who try both process.

Thank for your awnser I will try to find more info.

Hi Dave ,

I have another question for you I have a inkjet printer Epson stylus photo R300 for dvd and cd printing (i got it free)
Can I use paper in it ?
Can I use the paper for sublimation with it?
Since the ink print on dvd it might print on something else ?
I don't want to try just in case that the paper get stuck and damage my printer.
I met a Dave Miller in Alberta years ago any cousin of yours?

Ray
