Full Version: Please help me - my brain disappeared

I cannot for the life of me remember how the heck to convert a JPEG to a vector graphic! I think someone took my brain overnight!

I think I attached it here - is it me or have I completely lost it?

Holly,

What graphics program do you use?

Corel X3 has received good reviews for its trace feature. That would create a vector graphic.

What step am I forgetting??

Here's trace using the one step option. 5 seconds.

Holly,

I'm only quasi-Corel knowledgable. (Illustrator & Photoshop)

Looks like Mike Null has come to your rescue. :-)

Ok - thank you for doing this but I think I'm not following or not giving enough info. I'm dealing with 3 days of insomnia - two kids - husband home from work - upcoming fair on Saturday - need I say more??

Anyway...what I need is to be able to vector out this graphic. My insomnia-laden head says I need to convert it so I can make the image hairline. I've traced it a thousand times but still can't manipulate the line.

I know I've done this before with other stuff - or so I think - what in the world am I not doing??

Please lead me to the light!

There's a timely article in the April 2007 issue of A&E magazine, by Jim Stadler.

CorelDraw "Auto Tracing"

Has nothing to do with cars. :-$

Holly,

Just select the image in the image Mike did...........right click on red to draw the outline........ungroup and remove the line (box) around image. Then remove the black....

hope this helps

An upgrade to X3 will allow you to create a boundry line around an image with one click.

Well this might explain a bit of my brain freeze...you guys gave me some stuff to do here that I haven't done before! Trace - yes - but the other stuff, no.

Thank you so much!

Now...has anyone seen my brain?? ;)

Use this as a teaching guide.

Probably corel 9 but very well done.

Holly,

I cannot be certain, but I thought I saw your brain having an umbrealla drink at the beach just now when I went down for my swim.......If I see it again tomorrow I 'll tell it you are looking for it

In the meantime, if I understand you correctly, you want to vector cut that image OUT of something. Is this correct?

Hi Chuck! Good news - my brain came home last night. Tanned and tired, but it's home! :)

Yes, I'm making a large plaque out of the WM you saw. I was able to cut it out of birch last night - it looks perfect!

I don't know why I didn't know about the steps posted yesterday - I'm totally baffled on how I did this before but I swear I have. Anyway, need to check out the gravograph link above to learn more!!!

Thanks for asking!

You may want to try Adobe Streamline, it's an autotrace software for bitmap images with added functionality and far more powerful than corel's autotrace.
