Lots of conversation about lasering. Has anyone rotary engraved Ikon yet? I have samples in the mail but after reading about the effort and time needed to laser I wonder how it will work on a rotary.

I talked to Bill at Ikon and he said to use a parallel cutter to engrave and an end mill to cut out the finished shape. It seems like I saw someone say he (she?) had used a profile cutter for the engraving. That would give some shoulder to the raised image but seems like it would really add to the time. He also said that they ran the spindle on their Roland at 14,000 rpm but he did not know what feed rate they used. Anybody? He also said they did not use the systems vacuum and that the dust made a little cloud and settled onto the surface.

I can see a lot of uses for this if it does not take forever to mill.
