Hmmmm....okay. Sorry it wasn't that easy.

I now sounds like an IP address issue. If I was near my machine, I'd look up how it's done for us. I did have to change it a little from what the manual said, since I now run mine through a router.

PROGRESS. This morning I thought I would give it another try. I tried connecting directly with the crossover cable. I noticed the viper driver in the system tray said "listening for viper " So I click on the viper driver again. and a NEW Icon came up, 912 reset to home. Still get error message of " APU/MPU Error, reset red button on Pendant (Which there isn't one) Make sure power on MPU is on. Well at least I am closer than yesterday. I deffinently know it is talking to it now! Will leave this connection alone until I get it to work, then I will try the network. Any suggestions.
Now I have to go the the In-Laws house for a while

Patiently Waiting.................

L J,
Viper systems can be setup to access special folder (in box) or you can send jobs already created and saved in xot folders on hard drive.
When you recall job directly from touch screen pendant, files saved in INBOX, you have to be sure you have file you want cos you can't view it on your desktop and only file name will be displayed on pendant, that is why I prefer to open jobs on desktop and verify all settings prior to downloading to MPU (F1 shortcut). I do not have Xenetech laser but I belive that procedure is pretty close.
I also have older electronics MPU with long card APU that I kept after upgrading to viper, just in case things go wrong I can always go back to old setup.

Hi Ray,

I don't know where are you at this point, but was wondering if you did go to neighborhood networks where you would enter IP address (page 5 & 6 of installation manual). On my setup I have checked box for system to automatically assign IP address. My setup is via hub network (red ethernet cable) however by using crossover cable should not matter in your case.
Good luck

Tony

Per previous posting I am able to talk to it with direct connect crossover cable. At this point I am only trying to go by the DVD and make a single plate from scratch on the computer screen using "drag" when I go to file print to engraver that is when the computer screen comes us with the possible error of "APU/MPU". At this point I am not trying to save and retrieve the file.

I guess call to Roy and Randy is in order first thing tomorrow morning.
Still don't know why you would get that message to reset red button since there isn't one on the system.

Tony,

Because Xenetech has to support all different levels of platforms with 1 software package......my 9x12 does have the red button on the pendant...........

Just received e-mail from Xenetech support. (Ray,
In the Xenetech program, click on the page pull down menu. Now click on Engraving Table Defaults. Find the box that says Ethernet and check it. Click on OK. That will take care of your problem.) Yes it sure did. I knew it had to be something simple.

I am up and running..... Thanks for everybodys input. Hope this helps someone else. Now more reading on cutting plates.

Good morning Ray,

It looks like from the last post Xenetech was able to get you up and running on the 912 Viper. If there's anything else you need feel free
to give us a call anytime day or night at 817-460-8122 ext. 203.

You'll now know where to find that Ethernet check box (PAGE | Engraving Table Defaults) just in case you see that error message again.

By the way, have you registered/unlocked your software with the factory?

Best regards and happy engraving!
Randy Allen

John,

Is your pendant Viper touch screen?
On older systems with toggle switches pendants yes there is red button "RESET", but it has been eliminated for VIPERS, at least that is what is on my system.

Randy,

Ray just rec'd his machine on Friday. Since his training hasn't been set up yet, his registration paperwork has not been completed yet.

Ray, et al:

My laptop was at my office all weekend so I missed this entire conversation until it was already resolved.

For future reference, our phones are monitored 24/7/365. If you leave a message for my dad (817)460-8122 ext. 202 OR for me at (817)460-8122 ext. 201 -- or even the for the operator/general mailbox -- it will notify my cell phone.

Typically, I can track down one of the guys to have them call you back within minutes of your message.

PLEASE make a note of that. Both of our guys love to feel needed over a weekend! ;-)

Both of them answer their cell phones 24/7/365 too (except when they're already with another customer).

Tony,

No, I do not have the Viper system on that machine, but Xenetech must support ALL options (old & new technology) is what I was trying to relay.

I have been a Xenetech customer since 1996 and I guess easier to see some of the "Whys" in the software since they have expanded it so much. I know Cody is/has been quite frustrated with it but if he had the background of having to manually figure every placement of each character and line, centering, placing logos, he would jump up and down with excitement with the software. We'll get him there eventually!! ;-)

That's what folks have been telling me for the last year.

My response is that your expectations are still too low. :P

John, Xenetech supports all of their products and I find their CS very helpful. Ben and Jimmy got me going on few occasions when needed.

Cody will be jumping up and down with excitement in no time I am sure.
XWG software is what I like the most when setting-up panel layouts. Placement of text and cutouts are simple and easy as is creating dials and multiple plates with grid cut options. You know all about it.

Tony,

Have you ever though about running your laser from XWG??
I don't know if it is possible, but I do know I can run my Wizzard from it, boy, does it sing purdy!
:B

That's another thing (Wizzard) I need to put on e-bay, as I don't need it as a back-up any longer.

Yes John,

I do run my Universal laser form XWG all the time. There is one issue with TTF fonts as it has been discussed just a week ago. TTF fonts are not actual height you would enter in "Letter Height" on XWG. I hope that Xenetech software development dept. will work on it to correct it.
What size of Xenetech rotary systems do you have?
Also, do you have any issues with your lasers?

Tony,

I have 2- 9x12's (non viper) and 2 Lasers (25 & 60 Watt) with a third one on order - should be here the middle of May.

I have had very little issues with any of the machines.... probably averages 1 repair on each machine and other than shipping, not too costly.

I am so pleased & trust them to give me my money's worth on the equipment and software that I have ordered the 5th system.
B-)

Tony,

Engraving Concepts is hosting a Xenetech education seminar at their office this Friday. If memory serves, Jimmy will be there.

Unless something goes terribly wrong between now and then, Jeanette has reserved a front-row seat for me.

I very well may be the hardest-to-please customer they've ever had. If they win me over (not there yet), they will have climbed a VERY steep mountain.

I am trying to keep an open mind....but stuff keeps falling out.
