Baz,
I have had that problem on occasion. I can't tell you what causes it but I discovered that right before it happens I can hear the air assist stay on. If I hit the reset button (Epilog 24TT) before I engrave the next piece it will engrave fine. Just something to listen for.

Pls be sure that the air hose spreading on a metal tube, touch the x encoder reader and disturb the movt.

PUT OFF THE MACHINE.

Remove the top cap of the horizontal beam and see the head assy is mvg as usual when you move in your free hand. See the possiblity of touching x encoder reader module had friction on metal tube.

You could notice the scratch mark on the x axis encoder reader module.

if its., see the metal tube screws are correctly clamped on either sides.

proceed. else call tech guru.. techsupport at epilog.

Ram
