Full Version: fixing up internet photos

thanks Dave, I went to the website and tried some of his things, and it did come out better, but I do not think it will engrave nicely.
It's just hard to get nice pictures that people want to use from clipart. I wanted something nicer. It is for a wooden chair, and she wants a rose with buds. (that's what I found on the internet)
Thanks anyway,
Guess I will have to keep looking for something suitable.
Barb

The best I have found is the three time enlarging process. In your case three time DPI process.

You enlarge it three times at oddball numbers and it smooths out the increase. Resample the 72 DPI to 120, then again resample to 210, then again resample to 300. These numbers are not set in stone, just far enough off an integer number for each increase, be sure to anti-alias each increase.

It will end up a bit blurry, but not pixelated. Use the 'Effects/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask' tool afterward to get a better looking image.

Even though this can do wonders, it will not put in much that is not there.

You guys are just too good to me. Thank you so much. Even if it doesn't work for this photo, it might help me in the future.
Thanks again,
Barbara :-)

Barbara,

look in this site http://www.sxc.hu/index.phtml , you need to subscribe to be able to download images, subscription is free and a lot of images are free too (this are a very high resolution images), except some that you need to purchase, but their price are not bad, check it out.
