I have a sample set of Chewbarka's military annodized dog tags enroute to me. They don't include the chain and the hole is approx. 3/8" in diameter.

Does anyone know what size ball chain to order for these? Client has given me a very short runway and need to get it right quickly.

Thanks in advance!

From the ballchain.com site it explains the sizes this way:

#1 Used for fine jewelry.

#2 Commonly used for jewlery applications such as neckchains, bracelets, etc.

#3 Can be seen attached to dog tags, used for ID badges, etc

#6 Can be seen in toilets, light/ceiling fan pulls, vertical blinds, retaining applications, key chains and more.

On a site that sells dogtags it said the most common length for dogtag chains was 24 inches.

#3 24" is the most common size for dog tags.

I use a split ring on my dog tags, then thread the ball chain through that.

It helps the tag lay flat while wearing it.

In the military I used a small length of ball chain through the dog tag then used a longer ball chain, 24" to hang around the neck.

Just looping the chain through the hole of the tag and wearing it makes the tag hang funny ( in my opinion ).

There are a "findings" suppliers that will sell 24" chain premade to that length for very reasonable prices if you don't need a whole spool. If you buy a spool from ball chain don't forget the little connectors.

I buy my jump rings and usually my chain from Magic Novelty. They make them themselves here in the USA.

How come you do not carry them? I am just curious. I just prefer getting everything from the same vendor.

Yes I do carry the Rings, they are only $7.50 per 100 plus shipping. The ones you see on E-Bay are mine!
