Does it only slow you down when you are connected to another computer?

I've run from hi-speed internet to a modem and back with VNC. I've also used it internally over a local LAN. It's definitely slow when a modem is involved, but otherwise, I haven't noticed any significant loss of speed and all of my my computers are ancient.

It sits in the background when not in use and I don't beleive that it consumes any resources. It doesn't have to stay resident in the background. You can start it only when you need it. Of course, you have to start both ends.

I'll look into it.

I just found out she has access by using a wireless card that is mooching off other computers in the mall that do not have an encrypted wireless setup. (Makes me cringe.)

It only slows you down when using, and then it varies between computers. I really just wanted to let you know it may have a drawback and to be aware. It usually is not a problem but something to be aware of.

I would not leave it running when I am not using it.

Steve

Thank you for the good advice.

Nothing yet on the Dell forum. Multiple good answers on this engraving forum.

Admittedly I am a bit jaded, but this forum rocks.
