Full Version: Printing a bitmap in Gravostyle

Hi.. need a bit of help..
I'm just starting sublimation and what I'm trying to do is set up for example a plaque in Gravostyle98, import a logo and then send the job to my laser printer. The problem is that the logo, which is a bitmap (not vectorized) will not print.
Any suggestions?
I know that I could print out the plaque without the logo, print the logo in another program then cut and paste it onto the sheet with the plaque wording, but I'd like to do it all in one :)

Thanx,
Steve

Steve,

Do you have any other graphics software? Gravostyle is a good program for computerized mechanical engravers, but it would be way down the list for creating anything for sublimation.

I just created a 5x5 page and imported a bitmap into Gravostyle 98. I then created a few lines of text above and below the BMP. I sent it to my printer and everything printed fine.

What type of bitmap file did you import? Gravostyle can be a bit tempermental with some bitmap formats.

You may also want to try printing your job to a different printer, if possible. This will tell you if there are some printer communication issues.

Steve,

For PC users, CorelDraw is the graphics program of choice. I realize, at the moment, you're performing single color (laser) sublimation.

If you ever make the jump to ink jet sublimation, you'll face the challenge of color management. ICC (International Color Consortium) profiles are a common method of achieving color accuracy.

ICC profiles are installed on your computer and work in conjunction with CorelDraw.

It's safe to say that ICC profiles will never be developed for Gravostyle 98.

Thanks for getting back to me...
The reason I'm using GS for setting up sublimated plates is that I have all past jiobs saved there, so it's just a question of sublimating rather than rotary engraving... Would make it so much simpler just to be abole to add the bmp logo, send it to the printer and job done.
When you ask about what kind of bitmap, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Let's say therre's a logo I want to use.. it has the .bmp extension. That's what I import into GS. It shows up on the screen, but even when I go to WYSIWYRE, it doesn't show there either.
Wonder what I'm NOT doing right..
BTW.. I have graphic level of GS, not the top one, if that matters.

Best,
Steve

Steve,

I have the same level of Gravostyle 98 that you do.

The most common bitmapped images come with the file extension bmp, jpg, tif or gif. That is why I asked. I did assume that you probably used a bmp, that is what I imported when I did my test.

I am at a loss for this one, but I have another troubleshooting test. Try a different bitmapped graphic to see if it shows up in the WYSIWYRE preview.

I'll give it a try... I'm sure it's me, not the program (usually is).

Hi... another quick question..
Are you able to scan an item into GS, batch it and then print it out before vectorizing it? Something else I can't seem to be able to do :)

Steve,

I have not tried that.

I have my scanner hooked up to a different computer, so I never scan anything directly into GS.

Any time I import an item into GS I vectorize it. I only use my GS for computerized mechanical engraving.
