First I need to warn you that I have never done this before and therefore do not know what I am talking about.
If you do not make good progress with just the buffing wheel, I would start with a fine sandpaper on an orbital sander to remove the mistake, and then buff it out with the felt wheel and a buffing compound.

(devil) Todd's wife here!

Okay, so I've made him a lovely place to sleep in the garage next to the STINK BUGS! Men, humph!

So here's what happened; he ended up engraving over the backwards writing with a graphic and engraved above the screw up.

If our customer doesn't like it then we buy a beautiful prism trophy already engraved or he takes it and is a happy camper and hubby gets to sleep in the house for the rest of November. :D

BTW thank you all for welcoming him. I'm trying to get him to spend more time reading this forum rather than "jeep" forums. This will make us money his will COST us money.

Happy Friday!
Jo

Jo,

If it doesn't work out, this is simply a one-time tuition payment to the School of Hard Knocks. We've all attended one time or another.

Thanks! The part that sucks is I told him "measure twice, cut once." But he no listen!

I measure twice and cut once, then the customer decides they want it larger.

[Or the laser starts in the wrong place. Had Corel 9 send the file to the wrong spot yesterday on one file on two different sends. It took a long time to send, should have a clue. Rebooted Corel and it sent it to the right spot then.]

It can be buffed out. But how much was the piece of glass in the first place? If you spent less than $50 on the glass, you are better off buying another blank and throwing that one it the trash.

I don't know what the actual cost of the trophy was. We were contracted by a local jeweler to engrave the piece. Once the trophy was given out at the golf tourney the winner brought it to us to engrave.

My hubby found a way to "cover" the mistake. We will find out next week if it is workable. If not we will be eating the cost and replacing it and as I said, hubby will have a new bed in the backyard. :P

Out of the garage and into the backyard already? School fees should not be that rough. :P

Hee, hee, hee. I'm really not that mean and didn't say a word when it didn't turn out as planned. It could have just as easily been me.

But, I was smart enough to leave the job for hubby to do so I coudn't be blamed for not "measuring twice, cutting once." I ain't no dummy.
