Okay....I'll put the rope away....for now! Since your a "local".

Wow! So somebody HAS actually graduated from VVHS.

We have been blessed to have the awards account with VVHS and we do a considerable amount of "stuff" for the college.

Good luck on this new project. I look forward to hearing more.

But I WILL bring the rope to ARA in March. Course, "luck" will be on your side since they don't have any (hang'n) trees there (he, he). B-)

Thom & Terry,

Your process has certainly peaked my interest. I have a few more minor questions.

Would I be able to sell my Atomic Art services and goods produced with your process on the internet? If so, wouldn't this be a violation of any kind of territorial agreement you might attempt to draw up?

Thom and/or Terry,

We've seen the attachments of your work. Where can I go, in the greater Los Angeles area, to see a tangible sample?

Better yet, maybe you could send a sample, so I can offer the forum members my observations.

Unfortunately this is so new we have no tangible pieces available to send to anyone and probably March will be the next chance for people to see it. Sorry if this sounds like we are avoiding you but we need to stay focused on the process we have outlined for ourselves.

Our sons will be home for the Holidays and not much gets done during there visits we only see them together at Christmas.

The website should be up and running a little earlier than previously thought, we are running the final tests this week to see if there are any problems and it should be preened and ready by the end of this coming week.

We will post this when ready.

Also I do not know if you are familiar with Louie Alvarez with LaserPro but he has seen them up close and helped us do some scratch resistance tests on several pieces. I suppose you could contact him at the LaserProUSA.com website for his opinion if you like.

I think people are misunderstanding the License aggreement principle that we suggested.(SORRY!). Obviously anyone who buys the Atomic Art process can sell to whomever, but we intend to sell a limited number of packets and have no intention of saturating the market like the quickie signs etc... companies are doing to the sign businesses around the world. ( too many sign people doing to much for too little)

The Internet is a wonderful source to buy and sell through and most customers who are using that method are not customers anyone is actually taking from someone else. At least I do not think that is the case since they have specific reasons for using the internet.

There is also the issue of shipping and installation; for say, a tile shower enclosure a backsplash etc. Maybe our thoughts on this does not address your current line of products or what you percieve will be available with Atomic Art but many will want to get involved with the Building industry, monuments, etc.

Just a thought!

Thom & Terry,

I went to the LaserPro website, but didn't see direct contact information for Louie Alvarez. I don't know Louie, but I'm familiar with the name.

Patience is a virtue, so they say. Unfortunately, we have limited patience, when it comes to learning about and discussing new processes. :-)

There does seem to be a parallel between this thread and that of the New Etching Process, wherein claims of readily available "ingredients" are apparently being used to produce the "magic" and what's being sold is the "secret recipe."

The "cook's" primary incentive, to keep the recipe a closely-guarded secret, is the fact they had to pay for the recipe.

In my opinion, if this isn't a case of vaporware, the announcement of this groundbreaking procedure was majorly premature.

Just wanted to do a little update on this topic. In the January edition of the A&E Louie Alvarez has an article on Laser Engraving Materials. In the last 3 paragraphs of the article he talks about a customer who has came up with a method to do full color with a laser engraver. He states that the method will amaze you and once the patent is final & the customer releases the process he will be writing a lengthy & detailed article.
He also makes note of the process "the images are in full, vibrant color that is is also extremely durable, wear and scratch resistant, and of course, weather & UV resistant." I do not know Louie personally but I have met him at an ARA show and took in a seminar he was presenting. His seminar was very interesting and informative to me. He writes an article almost every month for A&E. I am just relaying what I know.

Personally I am interested to hear more about this since laser engraving is a huge part of our total business. Since this article was related to this forum topic I thought some of you might be interested.

My goal is not to validate this process at this time or validate Louie but to share with you what I do know until I get all the facts. I have requested that TNT keep me informed of their progress in the release of this product. They have always be quick to respond to my emails.

Joe

The deleted posts represent my questioning of something Joe Hayes said in his last post, and his clarification to me.

Our spell check evidently replaced a word in Joe's post, which has been corrected.

TNT,

This evening, I read the Louie Alvarez article, in the January issue of A&E magazine, that Joe Hayes referred to. (Why does Joe get his copy before the rest of us?) :-)

Sure enough, the article was touting the wide variety of items the laser machines are capable of marking. Louie did make mention of your full-color process, but was quick to add, since a patent is pending and the details haven't been completely ironed out, he's not at liberty to elaborate.

As Joe pointed out, Louie asks us to stay tuned for a "lenghty and detailed article" on the process.

I've eaten crow in the past, but not often enough to develop a taste for it. Looks like I may be lined up for another helping, but until I know the "nitty-gritty" I'll refrain from shopping for a select piece. :-)

I get mine early because they know I am special. :P  By the way - I am not yet sure, and I shall reserve judgement until later - but that may be a black feather hanging on the side of your face.

Joe,

I suspected you were on the inside track, when it comes to early delivery of A&E. :-)

Hey! I'd love to chow down on some crow, if it means a cutting edge application for laser engraving.

The huge learning curve sounds good to me. :-)

Thom and/or Terry,

The web site isn't loading for me. I'm using IE5 for Mac. I see a marble background, but from there, nothing happens.

David,

We tested the website with Internet Explorer 5, Safari 1.3 and Mozilla FireFox 1.5 and it worked well with all these browsers. Try downloading FireFox a new browser if you cannot get IE5 to work.

We have had a very quick response from several people since our 5pm posting and you are the first to have difficulties.

Sorry for the inconvience and hope you are soon visiting our site.

I'm on an old Mac OS and can't use Safari etc.

Another reason to upgrade.

Good luck with the venture.

Will you have anything to show us at the ARA Las Vegas show?
