I used my Epilog 120 @ 400 dpi 60 speed 30 power.. I made two passes then wiped it down with a damp cotton knit rag. The shape was vectored at 30 power and 20 speed. It also took two passes. I used low numbers because the majority of laser engravers sold, fall into those specs. However, there are many combinations one can use to get the same results.....depending on ones wattage. The key is to break through the thin light wood surface. The immage on my sample is small to let folks know what beautiful name badges you can make and because i'm basically a show-off. LaserPly was originally intended for small items. It's expensive to manufacture but we know your best return will be on small $5.00 to $10.00 items. We can't compete with plastic or metal (or Tiger Woods) but we do know that there is an appreciation for the beauty of natural hardwood.
Our main business is manufacturing beautiful sandblasted hardwood award plaques and signs (The Sandcarved Award). We sell to the engraving industry and have been for 18 years. If you wish to see a sample of our work, email me at sandcarved@msn.com. As for LaserPly, we know we'll have to be patient.
