I finally broke down (after daddy's repeated "gentle suggestions") and added a 2nd monitor several months ago. I kept thinking I couldn't give up the "desk space" for another monitor but, as always, daddy was right. I LOVE my 2nd monitor!

I'm thinking of adding a 3rd -- and I'm less of a geek than anyone on this forum! [See? I can't even get my signature to work right! I think that's why I removed my favorite tagline before!]

I don't see a reason you can't do it with your laptop, but yes, you do need a 2nd video card to drive that 2nd monitor.

Oh, sorry, No! you do not need any other software, just what comes with the card.

I have two dual monitor computers on my desk. Well, they don't all fit on my desk. They spill out onto the table next to my desk.

The newer computer has two 22" LCD screens and I use it for graphics, CAD, and video editing. The older computer has two 21" CRT monitors and I use it for email, web, accounting/order taking, and to run various older engineering programs.

OK, I am officially a geek.

The biggest problem is forgetting which keyboard to type in when I am on a forum or taking an order. :O

I can do it with my laptop by using the laptop monitor and adding a second monitor using the port for an external moniter. Go into control panel and display. There is a place to setup a second monitor and extend your desktop onto it. Rebecca Kutcher Sunshine Horses Designs Iowa

I paste text 90% of the time to XGW32 from customer files, scanned OCR text or dictation software.(I HATE typing) I have the text files on one screen and the XGW on the other for easy access. When making logos I have coreldraw on one and the font thing on the other for matching fonts in logos. lj

I forgot things change that fast. It has been a couple years since I bought the last one. That would be more likely to work without problems. lj

Have been working with dual monitors for about a year now. Its one of those things I wouldn't do without now. Huge productivity benefits once I resited the hurge to use Alt+Tab to switch between screens!. I didn't even realise the graphics card in my PC had this capability until my wife wandered into my workshop one day and hooked it up.

Yes look like a geek, and a visiting engineer reckoned I was working in the star ship enterprise. Love It! =:)
