Mike,
Stop it! I haven't eaten dinner yet. That sounds WAY too good. :-)
All:
I'm thinking a one-day seminar will be best. Certainly open to suggestion on that.
Here's my reasoning:
This is based on a very popular small gathering at the (now defunct) Color Factory (El Cajon, CA) a few years back. People who attended, are still talking about it, in glowing terms.
The owner, Bob Smith, and his staff organized a nice event. It was a two-dayer. Sat/Sun.
Bob wrangled a group rate deal at a local hotel, where the attendees stayed. Nothing fancy, but clean and adequate.
The first day, started off with a presentation by my wife Robyn, explaining how the light we view photos, (or sublimated items) under, affects our ability to accurately reproduce color.
That was followed by a presentation from a Photoshop whiz, showing basic, yet very effective, use of the program. Very well received.
If memory serves, the PS instruction was followed by Larry Cohn's "Mug Press Shootout" which gave us a chance to see the pros and cons of various mug presses.
There was a lunch break, which (I believe) was followed by a presentation from a Corel Draw instructor. Basic use of the various tools etc.
That pretty much wrapped up the first day of instruction.
For dinner, Bob received a group rate, from a local restaurant. Dinner was followed by a party, which was held at Bob's home.
A good time was had by all.
The second day of instruction was rather lightly attended. Plenty of good info to be had, including Bob's marketing ideas and my very first, Sublimated Award Plaque presentation.
I can only assume the diminished attendance was due to people having to make their way back home, or choosing to take in some of the local sights. Who knows? Maybe a hangover or two :-)
I've never been to the KC area myself and would like to have a day to either see the area, or maybe play some golf. (ok, there's the real reason for my suggestion:).
What do you think?
Also, does the low-frill "town hall" idea have any merit, or would you prefer a more upscale Embassy Suites type of thing?
