According to an ad from Identification Plates, Inc.:

"Dyna Sub is a new dynamic white sublimation aluminum, developed to compete with the highest quality standards in the sublimation industry. It's unsurpassed in color brilliance, resolution and clarity."

Having used many types of sublimation metal myself, I took that as a pretty tall claim. An offer of a free sample seemed affordable enough, so I took them up on it.

Haven't received the sample yet. When I do, I'll offer my opinion.

If the ad alludes to competing with Unisub metal, which is certainly a high quality metal, even when the introductory pricing of $4.75 - $3.20 per 12x24 sheet (based on quantity) ends, should come in well below the street price of Unisub, at approx. $8.00 per 11.75 x 23.75 sheet.

Very interesting.

ID Plates is located in our "Links" section, under Engraving/Sublimation Suppliers.

Got my Dyna Sub samples the other day. The .020 thickness is a bit thinner than I'd like, but not a deal-breaker.

The material passed my personal benchmark of being white enough, rendering a vibrant image, and majorly important, the coating stands up very well to 400 degree temp.

The material may be marketed under another name, by another supplier, but for now, I'm here to say that Dyna Sub, from Identification Plates is a winner!

David,
What is the projected longevity of the product? Do they say?

Chuck,

Longevity? If you're talking about UV resistance, probably less than Unisub white alum., which has UV inhibitors in the coating.

The UV inhibitors in Unisub alum., give a slight "yellow" cast to the "white" metal. On its own, the finish looks white. Side-by-side, to Dyna Sub, it's definitely off white.

For indoor use, i.e. award plaques, signage, unless exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time, fading isn't a major issue, even without built-in UV resistance.

David,

you said "The material passed my personal benchmark of being white enough"

but did you give it the REAL TEST?

the old key demonstration.............

John,

Actually, Unisub would hold up better to the "Toothy, safe deposit box key", though, fortunately, indoord awards and signage rarely see that stringent a test :-)

David... excuse my laziness but how does the price compare to Unisub White Aluminum? Are you buying direct from them as (IDPlates).

John,

I don't know what the eventual pricing will be. I don't have the flyer around, but the pricing was an "introductory" offer.

I haven't ordered sheets of the material yet. I'm still using up some white alum. I bought from Rallye Productions, which compares very favorably to Dyna Sub.
